BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
During the Grammys, Beyonce said, " I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists." I know she was specifically referring to music, but I love this statement. I've long felt that soap operas as a genre are loved and adored by all of us, but at the same time, it is limiting when it comes to TV watchers and media. It's treated like the wicked stepchild with supposed "low-tier talent," as I've been told over the years. With Beyond the Gates coming our way, I feel now more than ever that soaps should get the recognition they deserve as respected entertainment programs that have kept fans tuning in for 94 years, starting on radio before transitioning to traditional television and now even on streaming.

I completely agree with all of this. All this time I was siding with Dani, but after watching the second trailer, I now side with Hayley too, which is good. For now, I'm 50/50 on who will be my favorite, but I have sympathy for Hayley already. I did not expect that going in. That said, Bill (Timon Durrett) is a find. He may be playing the bad guy/villain, but I'm here for it!

ARTICLE: ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ Star Karen Huger to Cameo on ‘Beyond the Gates’
As shown in the second trailer for the upcoming daytime drama series “Beyond the Gates,” the “Grand Dame” herself, Karen Huger from Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” will be making a cameo appearance when the show debuts later this month on CBS. While at present it is unclear who Huger will be playing on the soap opera, if not herself, or for how long, she’s already made a big impression on fans from what little of her was shown in the tale end of the trailer, particularly her stating, “Welcome to Fairmont Crest” as she snapped her fingers at a reeling Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings), who had just been slapped across the face by Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley). Hayley is presented as the town pariah considering she is the former mistress turned fiancée of Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett), Dani’s ex-husband. First uttered in a teaser clip released in December, the words “Welcome to Fairmont Crest” were initially thought at the time to have been uttered by series star Tamara Tunie, who plays matriarch Anita Dupree, as the words were stated as her character walked into the Fairmont Crest Country Club wearing her fur coat. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/01/3045191_1535b-1024x684.jpgMarquita Goings, Karen Huger Quantrell Colbert/CBS “Beyond the Gates” follows an affluent Black family who holds court over Fairmont Crest, a posh gated community that’s the center of luxury with wealthy residents harboring deep secrets. ARTICLE: Second Trailer For ‘Beyond the Gates’ Released, Provides Expanded Details For Most of the Key Characters
A second trailer for CBS’ upcoming daytime drama series “Beyond the Gates” dropped on Friday courtesy of TV Line, which for the first time gives a visual breakdown of characters not previously shown in previous promos. Leading things off, we’re formally introduced to Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings), the former mistress turned fiancée of Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett) as she’s shown her potential new home within the gates of Fairmont Crest, the luxurious community where the Dupree family rule above all. “Good luck, honey. You’re gonna need it,” humbles Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli), the high-end real estate agent showing Hayley the property as a clip shows the Duprees taking part in a toast while wearing all black to a party/celebration. “Meet CBS Daytime’s New Neighbors” opens the tag for the promo, seemingly referencing CBS’ primetime comedy “The Neighborhood,” as it introduces several key characters, including the Matriarch (Anita Dupree, played by Tamara Tunie), the Warrior (Vernon Dupree, played by Clifton Davis), the Scorned Woman (Dani Dupree, played by Karla Mosley), the Perfectionist (Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, played by Daphnee Duplaix), the Statesman ( Martin Richardson, played by Brandon Claybon), the Playboy (Andre Hamilton, played by Sean Freeman), the Two-Timer (Bill Hamilton, played by Timon Durrett), the Influencer (Chelsea Hamilton, played by RhonniRose Mantilla), the Advocate (Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne, played by Arielle Prepetit), the Nemesis (Dana “Leslie” Thomas, played by Trisha Mann-Grant), the Homewrecker (Hayley Lawson, played by Marquita Goings), and finally the Caregiver (Ashley Morgan, played by Jen Jacob). The promo concludes with a cameo appearance by the “Grand Dame” Karen Huger from “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” who states, “Welcome to Fairmont Crest,” as she snaps her fingers at a reeling Hayley, who has just been slapped across the face by Dani. Watch the second trailer below. Following an affluent Black family who holds court over the fictional Fairmont Crest, a posh gated community that’s the center of luxury with wealthy residents harboring deep secrets, “Beyond the Gates” premieres Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS. Yes, even as recently as the premiere episode of "Watson," CBS has continuously released the first episode of its latest shows on YouTube. The same is true for Paramount+. I would expect the first episode, or even the first week of episodes, of Beyond the Gates to be released to the platform. RE: Mike Manning. His character's name is Bradley “Smitty” Smith, but on the show, he'll be primarily referred to as Smitty.

Shutdown
For nearly 23 years, I have been attached to a place called Soap Opera Network, a community where fans of daytime dramas come together to discuss their favorite shows, characters, writers, directors, actors and producers. Over the years, it truly evolved into becoming what I deem to be a digital museum for the soap opera genre, housing long-forgotten news and information shared by passionate individuals looking to preserve all the life that the shows who've come and gone and remain, have given every one of us. Unfortunately, in recent years, this place has become some sort of cesspool where certain individuals complain non-stop about one poster or the other, demanding this one or that one be banned for childish reasons, and posters responding to other posters in a nasty way just because they don't agree with or have a differing view on a particular topic or something someone said. I am sick and tired of it. I have long stated I am not anyone's parent, but I've recently come to realize that I was wrong. My child is Soap Opera Network, and she's been abused for far too long. Recently, I've been offered to sell this site. I declined their offer because no amount of money from some third party will make up for all the time, money, effort and headaches I've been through over the years just to cash out for a few bucks. Therefore, to correct the wrong that has been infested into this place, I will no longer tolerate posters whose sole purpose is to control, demean, derail, or incite bad behavior where my child is Queen. No longer will Toups or I interject ourselves upon an issue where we receive demands that a poster should stop responding to your posts just because you have them on ignore or have an issue with them. While you have the right to ignore a poster, and that is your best option to avoid them, they do not have to stop responding to your posts. If you deem that to be stalking, get a court order and email it to me with a judge's signature and I will make sure that poster doesn't respond to your posts. Otherwise, don't bother me. Don't respond to a poster whatsoever with ridiculous responses like "Are you on drugs?" just because you disagree with what they said. They can say the sky is black when it is blue, or God isn't real. I don't care. Don't like it, ignore them. Toups and I will deal with board issues. You will not. I could say more, but I felt this was enough for me to get off my chest at the moment. I'll probably delete this later.

ARTICLE: Esta TerBlanche Cause & Manner of Death Determined By Los Angeles County Medical Examiner
The manner and cause of death for actress Esta TerBlanche, best known for her role as Gillian Andrassy on the soap opera “All My Children,” has been determined, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner announced on Wednesday, January 29. TerBlanche, who was 51 at the time, was found unresponsive at her home on July 19, 2024. Paramedics pronounced her death at 11:00 a.m. local time, the examiner’s office noted. On July 22, 2024, an examination was performed by a deputy medical examiner. Following the receipt of test and study results, the medical examiner’s office officially certified the cause and manner of death, revealing TerBlanche died from an intracranial hemorrhage due to blunt force traumatic head injury likely due to a ground level fall. The manner of death was ruled an accident. “Esta was such a kind, loving, giving, and caring person,” said her manager, Annie Spoliansky, in a statement at the time. “She cared so deeply for all people and animals. She had squirrels she fed and looked after daily, her two cats, and recent kittens that she cared for as her own children. Esta was never anything but generous and lovely to me, and I’m grateful to have known her for the time that I did, and devastated to learn of her passing.” Born in Rustenburg, South Africa on January 7, 1973, TerBlanche first made a name for herself when she was crowned Miss Teen South Africa in 1991. Soon after she landed the role of Bienkie Naudé Hartman in the South African soap opera “Egoli: Place of Gold,” where she appeared from 1992-1995. After much success in her home country, TerBlanche relocated to the United States to further her acting career. Landing multiple gigs as a model in commercials and ad campaigns, TerBlanche made her network television debut in 1997 on “All My Children,” where she quickly built a fan following and a hot romance playing opposite Cameron Mathison’s Ryan Lavery [Mathison currently appears as Drew Quartermaine on “General Hospital”]. TerBlanche exited “All My Children” in 2001 with her character dying from a gunshot wound. Later, Gillian’s heart was donated to Laura, Brooke English’s (Julia Barr) adopted daughter. By 2011, TerBlanche would reprise her role for a handful of episodes following the soap’s cancellation. She was among 17 former cast members reprising their roles. Talking about her time on the ABC soap opera in a Soap Opera Digest interview published just a few days before her death last year, TerBlanche said, “It was such a privilege to be on the show. Cameron was just phenomenal and I feel so blessed that I was able to work with him. He really made every day just wonderful. It was just magical. I could not have been luckier.” Note: The post Esta TerBlanche Cause & Manner of Death Determined By Los Angeles County Medical Examiner appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Read More

Three months after the death of Sam McCall, her family is finally going to learn the true circumstances surrounding her death when Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) reveals the truth this week on “General Hospital.” In the latest promo released for the week of January 27-31, 2025, the Davis family is shocked when Portia tells them, “What happened to Sam wasn’t a mistake. It was intentional,” to which Sam’s grieving mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), retorts, “Someone murdered my daughter?” Earlier, Sam’s fiancé, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), is confronted at the hospital, just as Laura (Genia Francis) realizes that her daughter, Lulu (Alexa Havins), is still in love with her ex-husband even after waking up from a four-year coma. Elsewhere, Chase (Josh Swickard) gets the medical results for his and his wife’s family planning journey. But will the results be a positive one or will things take a wrong direction? Looming in the air is the possibility that Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) had already conceived a child years earlier with another man. Check out the promo for this week’s episodes of “General Hospital” below. Note: The post General Hospital: The Truth About Sam’s Death Is Revealed appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
The trailer was "exclusive" to Essence magazine. Usually, when an outlet gets exclusivity, that's how it is done. The only way for an unlisted video to get shared is when someone with knowledge of its existence shares the link with others publicly. CBS might make the link available to others in the future, but it's likely to be re-uploaded as we get closer to the premiere instead since the upload date would appear older in terms of sorting by date as it pertains to the aforementioned algorithm.
