JENNIFER ANISTON, JOHN ANISTON Photo by Jill Johnson/JPI Studios In a post on Instagram announcing her father’s passing, “Friends” actress Jennifer Aniston said at the time, “You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now I’ll love you till the end of time.” Aniston’s comments on that date is a reference to the United States celebrating Veterans Day, particularly as her father had worked as an intelligence officer for the United States Navy after graduating from college. ARTICLE: RUMOR REPORT: Which Performer is Causing a “Tense Situation” on Set?
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, which soap star terrorizes their soap’s cast and crew? Who tested positive for COVID and their show kept it a secret? Which diva is threatened by a rising new hire? And which two familiar faces will be on this soap soon? These items and more are highlighted in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest (January 2, 2023), on newsstands now, in the magazine’s “Stuff We Know (and shouldn’t tell you)” section which has always been a fascinating read, and that’s why we like discussing it with you. After all, it’s no fun to be told something in print and not have anyone to talk about it with! Although the blind items aren’t likely to be answered by the magazine anytime soon, and we’re sure none of the people in items 1-4 will fess up to anything, why not take a gander at who/what these are all about? Courtesy of a360media BLIND ITEMS: Regarding the performer terrorizing the show’s cast/crew, including “unleashing their fury on producers, directors, and other crew,” the magazine notes, “Staff does their best to avoid contact, but co-stars and key departments are forced to smile and play nice to not upset production. It’s a tense situation.” With COVID testing and positive outcomes becoming a regular part of our everyday lives, it’s a wonder why “This soap is keeping a lid on which cast member, who figures prominently in a current storyline, [that] tested positive for Covid and had to quarantine at home.” According to the magazine, “An actor declined to name his/her significant other, although that person’s identity is prominently displayed on social media.” The answer is maybe too evident if you ask us. A leading lady on her soap is threatened by the “rising storyline prominence of a more recent hire.” Meanwhile, two familiar faces will be “on this soap in the coming weeks.” To subscribe to Soap Opera Digest‘s print edition, click here. If you prefer a digital copy, check out at Zinio. You can discuss these items and more in the comments below. ARTICLE: Fan Favorites Return for the Holidays on ‘Days of our Lives’
Christmas is a time for joy and togetherness, and “Days of our Lives” is bringing all the holiday cheer with the returns of several fan favorites on tap. On the Thursday, December 22 episode of the soap, Kyle Lowder was back in Salem as Rex surprised Kate (Lauren Koslow). Meanwhile, the Friday, December 23 episode is jam-packed with returns, including Lamon Archey as Eli, Cady McClain as Jennifer and even Marci Miller as Abby. First up: Chad (Billy Flynn) meets up with Jennifer at Abigail’s grave as they reflect on memories of their loved one. “They’re still grieving in different ways, but they’re at a place now of more acceptance,” says Flynn in the December 26, 2022 issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now. “They’re able to reflect on and understand what Abigail’s life was, who she was and how she served everybody. Chad feels like he has to gather a bit of strength and be there for Abigail’s mother. He is comforting Jennifer.” Later in the episode, as everyone gathers around to hang up ornaments on the Horton tree, Chad imagines Abigail and they talk about how he is going to make Christmas okay for their kids as they celebrate their first holiday without their mother. “It’s very sweet,” teases Flynn of the husband and wife conversation. “I kind of viewed it as the audience getting a glimpse into the relationship that Chad and Abigail have now.” Elsewhere, while he’s currently moonlighting as Principal Carter on The CW’s “All American,” Lamon Archey is once again back in Salem when Eli pays a visit to grandma Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) with the twins in toe. “It has been a while since Eli had seen his family and vice versa,” the actor tells Soap Opera Digest. “It is a good time to get everyone together, and what better time to do it than Christmas?” Catching up with his former co-stars was a great experience, Archey notes, specifically when he caught up with Susan and her husband Bill Hayes. “I hadn’t seen them since I left. I think I maybe emailed them once or twice during the time I was gone. It was really good seeing them and the other faces I hadn’t seen in a while. It was really good reconnecting with my co-workers.” As for what fans can expect to learn from Eli considering Lani (Sal Stowers) is unable to bask in the cheer considering she’s currently in prison, Archey says, “I believe Eli says she’s doing the best she can under the circumstances. She’s pulling through, but definitely misses being with her family, especially during the holidays.” Although Archey’s latest return is a short one, don’t be surprised to see him pop up again sometime in the near future. “I talked to Albert [Alarr, co-executive producer] before I left,” he notes. “He had asked me if I wanted to come back and do some more episodes. I said we can definitely talk and figure it out. Recently, they did reach out to me and asked if I’d stop by again and help with some stories they have going on. So, of course, I’m down to pop in and lend a helping hand.” Outside of “All American,” Archey can next be seen in the TV movie “Love Me to Death” which also stars actors Brian White, Pamela Jones and Tisha Campbell, among others. A release date has not been announced. Watch the show’s holiday promo below. “Days of our Lives” airs weekdays, exclusively on Peacock. Difficulty opening up Real Housewives thread
There was a kink in the system when we kept trying to update the server to PHP 8.0. The then current software version of the message boards worked for the most part but certain links came back as broken according to web browsers. We had to revert back to an older, but no longer supported version of PHP to rectify the issue. However, this prevented us from upgrading to the now current software version. After ensuring a secure backup was available and with additional support from our hosting team, we were able to upgrade to to latest software version this morning. Things now seem to be working correctly, particularly the Real Housewives thread which had been one of the bigger threads impacted by the aforementioned software issues. Let me know if you find any more kinks.

ARTICLE: Tamara Braun Concludes ‘Days of our Lives’ Run
With her character being sent away to Bayview Sanitarium following her recent dirty deeds, including attempted murder and planting a bomb at Susan’s memorial service, Tamara Braun’s run as Ava Vitali on “Days of our Lives” has come to an end. The actress last appeared on the Tuesday, December 20 episode of the Peacock series. On Instagram, Braun shared numerous behind the scenes photos from her final taping day on set, captioning the post, saying, “ Hey all you Days fans!! If you want to see Ava off, tune into DOOL today for her last day in Salem.” She added, “Thanks for all the love and support you continue to show me. I will miss you all!!” She concluded her post by informing fans that she’ll still be accessible via the social media platform. Braun first joined the “Days of our Lives” cast in 2008 as Ava before later moving on to take on the role of Reese Williams on “All My Children” that same year. ARTICLE: Netflix Cancels ‘Blockbuster’ After One Season
Failing to ever crack Netflix’s coveted Top 10 list since its premiere in early November, the streaming service has decided not to pursue a second season of “Blockbuster,” a scripted take on the working life of employees operating the last Blockbuster Video in America. The series starred Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Melissa Fumero (“One Life to Live,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”). According to a logline for the series, “Timmy Yoon (Park) is an analog dreamer living in a 5G world. And after learning he is operating the last Blockbuster Video in America, Timmy and his staff, including his long-time crush, Eliza (Fumero), fight to stay relevant. The only way to succeed is to remind their community that they provide something big corporations can’t: human connection.” “Blockbuster” landing on Netflix came with a bit of irony as the streamer played a vital role in the demise of the once iconic brand when it built its customer base by mailing DVDs directly to members, cutting out the need for visiting the local video store. Produced by Universal Television, the 10-episode series was co-created by Vanessa Ramos who also served as executive producer and showrunner. Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn also star. Check out the official trailer below. Anthony Morina’s time as co-executive producer at “The Young and the Restless” has concluded after nearly four years on the job, reports Daytime Confidential. According to the outlet, Morina was let go and will not be replaced. Josh Griffith, who had been co-EP alongside Morina, will now take over as sole showrunner and remains the show’s head writer. The husband of former “Y&R” head writer Sally Sussman, Morina and Griffith were named co-EPs of the daytime drama series in December 2018 following the exit of British producer Mal Young.
