Though I know AMC (and I presume OLTL and GH) have their own stock, if you will, musical bits for different emotional themes in scenes, but I was surprised yesterday or the day before to hear a bit of music in a scene with Sonny and Emily (where he tells her he's taken the meds) that is exactly the same as one used by AMC.

Aren't there muscial directors for each show?

Each show has a different music director, but some shows share the same music composer(s).

GH and OLTL share Dominic Messinger. I don't know who AMC's composers are.

There's lots of sharing, not only among shows on the same networks but many composers work for shows on competing networks. I haven't tuned in to ATWT lately but a while back there were some almost identical pieces on ATWT that AMC used during the Jean Passanante era. Maybe Jean was a fan of them.
