That definitely was a weird dropped thread. Though I think it might be picking back up with the chess set thing?

The whole will-reading was SO much build up for nothing, too. "Stefano's estate will be split amongst his living heirs. Gabi is actually Stefano's widow, so she's entitled to 1/13th of the estate instead of that 1/13th being split among the 8 living parties. Marlena got some crap from TJ Maxx and left. Oh, and a recast Lexie wandered into a room full of people her character has barely met."

Eloquently stated, lol.

As always, the potential could be there, but DAYS just doesn't know how to execute a good cliffhanger or fallout anymore. It all falls flat and gives us a "ho-hum" feeling at the end.

As I was watching the scenes, I thought, you know, with moodier lighting, better closeup reactions, and BETTER MUSIC, they could've made that reveal somewhat jaw-dropping.

That's definitely a plus.

I always thought Xander would work well as a boy toy for Kristen whom she eventually fell for. They've had good chemistry going back to when he was working for her in that Nashville warehouse or whatever was going on with that Warehouse of the Dead. We're far past the point where it's needed or makes any sense, but I was reminded of the potential today.

It's something, at least

I'm glad that they have chemistry, and if this keeps Kristen away from Brady, I'm all for it.

It's just Kristen 😂

I so agree about the music. About a month ago, I started binging DAYS on weekends instead of watching daily, and that highlights even more how bad the music is.

Sadly, they're committed to it and see it as a trademark of the show. It's off almost all the time.

Totally. Most of the pieces are there. They just don't seem to know how to execute them for maximum impact.

The editing at the end of the episode where Lexie emerged (I think it was the Friday before last, May 8) was well done, with those quick cuts and mini-dissolves. It had some sense of drama. But it's like they set up these Big! Shocking! Events! without really thinking through how impactful they really are.

Another Lexie/Dimera-centric episode.

And honestly, I didn't think this one was as bad as some of the other ones were. It didn't seem as boring to me lol. I'll never be a fan of this storyline, but there were actually a lot of good scenes in it today. It was nice seeing Lexie and Kayla have scenes together, and get all caught up. I think they were friends back in the 80s, I can't remember. I have mixed feelings about Lexie being so anti-Paulina from the start though. I don't know if that's the right choice for this storyline. But I am a little interested in seeing Lexie and Paulina's first meeting.

Btw, congratulations Tripp and Wendy! Too bad we can't get another season of Beyond Salem to see their wedding. 😂😂

Abe and EJ going head to head was good as well. I liked seeing Abe lay down the law to EJ about Theo, Lexie and Paulina. It's a very good use of the character. Theo, not knowing about Stefano's part in Lexie's "death", or that Abe conspired with EJ to get him to step down as CEO might lead to something good happening at some point.

Speaking of Theo, I'm not really shipping him and Gabi together, but I do kind of like the two of them being involved in the same storylines. I don't mind the harmless flirting. And now that he's met Joy, I wonder if that's going to end up meaning something. I wouldn't mind all these storylines being tied together in one big mess.

As for Stephanie and Alex, hopefully their scenes today don't mean that the conflict between them is over. I was starting to enjoy Stephanie being all mean and selfish lol

The new Lexie doesn't feel like Lexie to me at all. Nikki Crawford isn't a bad actress and I know it's very early on, but none of the reactions she's having remind me of the Lexie I know. I don't get any Renee Jones vibes or softness from her. I know it's a recast and there will be a different take from a different actress. I am just not really buying the portrayal right now. Maybe it will grow on me?

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Just bring back the moody old music cues from the mid'90's (think Reilly 1.0 era) and call it a day. They started veering into the more hokey jokey stuff around late '97 (think Edmund/Susan "wacky hijinks" era) and it always maintained a corny or over-the-top vibe since, until around the "reboot" of 2011, which gave us this present-day muzak garbage.

Nikki Crawford is not a bad actor by any stretch of the word, but she is definitely colder in the role of Lexie (with an 'ie' not 'i' like many write). It reminds me of when Heather Rattray came on, replacing Martha Byrne as Lily on As the World Turns. She definitely nailed the emotional moments, though. That I know for sure. But I do wonder if Crawford is in this for the long haul.

The last thing we needed to revisit was Price Town. But I love that Lexie's foot is on Paulina's neck. It's about time someone had it out for her.

That's right, Stephanie, ditch town and let Alex go be with Joy -- and then they can leave with their offspring and never be seen again. And then Jeremy can rush back to Salem!

They are really trying to test the waters with Gabi and Theo, and I just... do not see it happening. Neither actor has chemistry, nor do their characters. It just does not work.

I don't know what the song was that Alex/Ben played, but damn... it was cringe and very "this is royalty-free, so let's choose it."

Yeah, I still feel like Lexie would be more compassionate in general of the situation? She was "dead" for 15 years, not a few months. So that's on the writing not NC specifically. The scenes didn't work for me especially since she has never met Paulina. It's all very judge-y and I am not much of a Paulina fan anyhow.

JPL needs to stop making goofy faces all the time. It's not Phillip.

AlexAnn Hopkins should have kept her long hair. Her styling with the curls and that hair makes her look like a 50's housewife lol.

Yeah, and it really shouldn't. But in the meantime, it makes me feel like Gabi is fooling herself with Philip. Maybe I'm reading too much subtext, but it seems Gabi is telling herself Philip is a great catch without really feeling it.

Side Note: B&B is wasting their leading actor Emmy winner Scott Clifton. If DAYS ever got truly serious with the Philip Kiriakis character long-term, he'd make for an excellent recast. No offense to JPL who I'm okay with otherwise.
