Funny, on other boards a lot of people are thinking this story shoiws that Brennan is sticking around for the long haul, and that he will redeem himself with Carly.

They're delusional. He's doomed. Brennan was always little more than a stopgap elevated dayplayer who was never going to last no matter who the actor, and FV is clearly all in on the latest Save Valentin project: Pairing him with Carly.

I might be the only one around here who's really enjoying the Carly/Valentin scenes, but even I'm dubious about whether they have romantic chemistry. It feels more like Carly's hanging out with her pissy gay friend.

I loved him as Will on AMC- he was sexy, menacing, and did great work there. And Valentin is just such a drag.

Gotta admit, I liked the way that things were set up today, basically for all hell to break loose during the blizzard. It's like a classic soap umbrella storyline. I'm looking forward to seeing it all play out, especially the Tracy/Gio/Emma adventure.

I'm not that big of a fan of Anna's storyline but the cliffhanger was really good.

Joss was just insufferable though, as always. And somebody really needs to tell her that it's "Spoon" not "Spewn" 😂😂

Oh God, I hope not.

If anything, they should be put in a triangle with Trina

Oh God, NO! Emma & Gio is good where they are at this point.

Need to bring back Spencer and resolve this Trina/Kai’s pairing.

Joss has been written too independent for far too long, Miss goodie shoe and very strong-willed which why her pairings are a total lackluster thus far. Something significant has to land on Joss, a bad boy tattooed character with a different ethnicity Hispanic or African-American.

The Stephen A stuff is the starf*cker in FV- a relic of the Frons days that any non-daytime celeb is a get.

Absolutely. As I said on PTV, Frank has always been enamored of celebrities who love the soaps. He would much rather keep playing Stephen A. regularly and have him threaded into story than have to write for most of the actual Black characters IMO. Let alone add any strong new ones. The show seems to actively resent the only dynamic actor in the older POC set (Brook Kerr).

I've said it too many times, but at this point I'd add someone like Cassandra Creech or whoever as Keesha Ward just to try to really fúck with the heads of the fanatical Jason fanbases lol. But unlike the '90s I'd be amazed if Great God Jason with a woman of color ever made it to air in these modern times so never mind. (And yes, Creech did play an assassin on GH for a hot minute in the 2000s.)

Sonny became something they both had to survive around the time Michael went to jail and the show never picked that thread up fully because the logical conclusion was Sonny finally going to far and Jason having to kill him to protect everything else. It was a line I saw start during Sonny/Emily, and they picked it up again during Claudia and that tension was there until Guza was gone.

I agree. This building tension started around Emily and was very present in Guza II from then on, but they never pulled the trigger. The endpoint was obvious. It also might've led to Dante taking over the mob, something DZ has claimed was the long plan, but I am grateful that never happened. Same goes re: Michael.

But he still wanted it to be Robin when McCullough came back, and she was the one that didn’t want to be stuck in Sonny/Jason/Carly/Michael land again.

This has always stayed with me. Imagine the show if they'd ever broken the seal on that couple again (something I had hoped they might consider when Billy Miller arrived). I don't fault Kimberly for opting out though - the rise of Robin and Patrick (along with Grey's Anatomy) helped begin to fundamentally shift the show back to the hospital as a major hub, and despite fits and starts it's been back in a major way ever since.

That middle 2000’s GH was filled with personal stuff showing onscreen. The summer of sleeze, every aborted attempt at Jason/Liz, the stuff with Alcazar, MB and SB throwing their weight around and fighting everything from love scenes to costars.

Then we got to the last couple years of JFP/Guza and everyone was kind of defeatist about the show lasting much longer, and they were hanging on because the clock was ticking. Maurice and Tony Geary especially were in that camp.

I have my issues with Frank, but except for those on the outs or the ones that are a problem for him (Monaco for example) the actors and bts are not the den of vipers it used to be.

A lot of that period felt ugly. The show, the writing, the acting, even the fanbases. It wasn't entirely unwatchable just very contentious, and everyone was unhappy.

The one thread I think Laura Wright has fully kept alive from SJB’s Carly is that I think she loves Jason in every way, not just as her friend. And I agree that thread just isn’t there as strongly for Jason. It started as love for Michael and a deeper relationship with Carly came along for the ride. Then it was his sense of honor about Sonny/Carly. Then it was because he truly loved Sam.

The writing was always skewed that Jason was morally correct even though he was also an assassin, and both Sonny and Carly were capable of crossing that line. Which was always funny to me, that Jason was supposed to be the most honorable man in town while being a mob enforcer.

As far as Burton and SJB, it always read to me that he wanted Jason to be with the good girl, and in the case with the Brenda/Sam story- could fall in love with someone not so good if they were psychologically fragile and he rescued them. And that was never going to be Carly played by Sarah or Tamara. But he still wanted it to be Robin when McCullough came back, and she was the one that didn’t want to be stuck in Sonny/Jason/Carly/Michael land again.

Steve did seem to prefer being paired with "good girls"-and he never saw Carly as a viable love interest IMO.
