The wacky Britt and Brad stuff is already annoying. Not paying for dinner? Really? That's where we're going with these two?

I swear these writers have no idea how to avoid making characters unlikable.

Correct. Let's have two 40 year people dine and ditch and laugh about it. How endearing. They are so loveable.

The trial is boring. The writers should have watched some episodes of Perry Mason maybe.. Hopefully it can still end with Willow going crazy on the stand and screaming I did it, I did it

Here are some examples of how close Britt and Spencer were:

In 2015, when Britt was on the run, she made a surprise, secretive visit to Port Charles. She saw two people, both of whom she trusted not to turn her in: Brad and Spencer. She proclaimed to Spencer: "You are Spencer Stephan Nikolosovich Cassadine!!" She remembered his full legal name years after she and Nikolas had broken up.

When Sonny and Jason found Britt in late 2017, the first thing she asked Sonny was "how is Spencer?"

When Britt saw Nikolas in 2020, after he came back from the dead, she slapped him for abandoning his son and told him that she was in touch with Spencer.

When Spencer returned to Port Charles, he and Britt and many scenes together, including at the Metro Court pool immediately after he returned. He tried to get Britt to buy him a gin and tonic, but she acted like a parent and got him an iced tea.

At one point, Spencer asked Britt if he could stay with her. She said no, but not because he was asking too much of her, or she preferred not to be troubled by putting him up. There was a reason related to his issues at the time, surrounding the problems he was having with his family. The point is, it didn't seem inappropriate or out-of-bounds to him to ask if he could live in her home.

When Spencer was trying to figure out what Esme had done to Trina, he went to Britt for help. He asked her about medication that he had found. Britt assumed that Esme was taking the drugs and prepared to get involved in the situation. Spencer backed her off with some harsh words, ones that I remember thinking were painful for her to hear, coming from him. He was trying to keep her safe from Esme and away from the whole mess. There was a scene, I can't remember with whom, where Britt talked about how hurtful it was to be spoken to like that by Spencer, given their history.

Spencer later needed a favor from Britt, related to dealing with the Esme situation. He asked her for help, even before he was able to explain to her that he didn't mean the things that he said to her. Britt agreed to help him, even without knowing that he didn't really want to say all the cold words that he had spoken.

Spencer eventually explained to her what happened and apologized. She seemed relieved to her to hear his explanation.

Spencer was at Britt's party the night before she was believed to have been killed by the hook. They showed two pictures of them together in the video highlight reel for her birthday.

Spencer was absolutely devasted when Sonny told him that Britt had been killed by the hook. Cameron comforted him. Sonny later told Nina and Ava about how hard a time Spencer was having after losing Britt.

When Spencer was in danger during the Greenland story, Liesl talked about how she wanted to help him, and referred to him as the boy that her Britta loved so much.

I honestly don't see how anyone can remember them as not having been close, or their relationship not having been an important part of her character's story. It seems clear that CVE is determined to portray her character in a certain way, and her history with Spencer interferes with that.

The description that is being given by some posters here about the Spencer/Britt connection sounds more like the relationship that he shared with Hayden. They had some tender moments when she was married to Nikolas, and they were happy to see each other again a couple years later when she took him and Cameron out for the day. Years later, an older Spencer was disgusted when he learned that Nikolas tried to kill her, and he mentioned the warm feelings that he had for her as a stepmother. But it wouldn't have been accurate to say that they were super close and had a long-standing bond with one another. Britt and Spencer, on the other hand, were and did.

They were friendly. Lots of people were friendly with little Spencer. I remember how much he used to wail about her: "Bwitt! Bwitt!" But he did the same with "Unca Sonny" and their relationship wasn't that deep in the long run either. Britt and Spencer's scenes after he got SORASed were not that plentiful.

If it comes up in conversation I have nothing against it. They cared for each other. But it was not some incredibly central relationship in either of their lives that the show is somehow glossing over. It may be important to you, but it's not what the rest of us see. And it's not something Van Etten would try to obscure either. He came up under Ron Carlivati, who created Britt and molded and favored little Spencer. CVE clearly adores Britt and I don't see any indication that he dislikes Spencer. It's just not that deep.

I wouldn't mind seeing Britt's reaction to finding out about Spencer's death either. I certainly think they were friendly/close enough to warrant a mention. I also don't think the show is necessarily ignoring their previous connection or it's some sort of glaring omission.

Britt hasn't asked about Spencer nor has she shared scenes with people that were close with Spencer. Idk, Spencer and NAC have been gone for a while now. It's not like Spencer's death is the main topic of conversation amongst the town.

As far as Spencer/Hayden, I legitimately don't remember a single thing about their interactions, so I hold Britt/Spencer in a higher regard than them lol. I tend to agree with @Vee though. Most of the Spencer/Britt bonding took place with Betchel's obnoxious kid Spencer.

If we are discussing Britt's flop of a return, the lack of talk about Spencer is very low on my list of mistakes the show has made here.

We’ve only had, what, 3 days of the trial, so I can’t say I’m bored yet. The best part has been Drew trying to bully Alexis about how to do her job. It’s as if the writers are trying to exorcise their frustration at every old blowhard straight white man they’ve ever had to work with lol.

Does anyone else think the trial is a convenient way to get underused contract players to fulfill their guarantees before the end of the year? You have people like Liz and Kristina popping in for half an episode and Trina sitting there silently.

They should have watched The Edge of Nigh to learn how to write a mystery. I can't say it enough, Henry Slesar was a master writer.

I will give GH points for keeping Drew a complete douche even after he was shot, but I wish they didn't make him the mustache twirling kind.

There may have been a clue as to who shot Drew. Justine said that phone records back up Drew's statement that he didn't receive any calls the night he was shot. The means that when Trina and Kai heard Scout's ringtone, it was coming from the phone of the shooter.

It is possible that Willow has the same ringtone for Scout, but that is also true of her other family members. Alexis and Kristina's whereabouts are accounted for, even if they can't tell the police their true alibi (kidnapping Ric). That leaves Molly, who would make an interesting secret psycho, if she had some kind of meltdown that we didn't see onscreen, but could now see in flashbacks. It would be reminiscent of Julia Cumson turning out to be Carlos Agretti's killer on Falcon Crest.

Of course, it is also possible that the ringing phone belonged to Scout herself. Maybe she figured out that Drew isn't really Drew and is only pretending to be her father. Maybe she thinks he might have done something to the real Drew. In other words, maybe Drew really is Shiloh.

I think we're not getting a scene with Britt talking about Spencer because of a typical and ridiculous soap move: Don't mention a dead/gone character because it's a mistake to remind audiences that character existed.

Every soap does this, and I hate it.
