I know I sound like a broken record but I loved this week's episodes. I found something entertaining in each of them.

I love love love Vernon & Anita's relationship. I will never believe he would cheat on Anita. Based on the CBS holiday press release, I think we all know where the story is going.

Izaiah, definitely has me intrigued and I am looking forward to Greg Vaughan.

I don't think that's it and I think MVJ is very conscious of going there with the elders on top of the other couples, at least at this point in time. (I think an illegitimate child for one or both is likely inevitable at some point, this is a soap, but I would not do it right away given other events.)

Assuming we're thinking the same thing, I suspect it is a secret health scare for Vernon. Shades of Clint or Sloan hiding their diagnoses from Viki on OLTL.

Any more relationship trouble for couples would be overboard at this point. I think that is why Martin and Smitty's course was changed.

I think they were always going to reunite tbh. I don't think that was a big rewrite.

And he used to be Tamara's love interest on ATWT! What if all high and mighty Anita had her own affair back in the day and Dani may not be Vernon's? That uncertainity might explain why she hasnt always allowed herself to be close to Dani. That would be messy and cause obvious problems for Madison and Chelsea but Id have that be short lived and keep Vernon as the daddy but  the scare of Chelsea possibly dating her potential aunt would have exposed Anita's secret

Count me in as someone who also does not think that Martin and Smitty reuniting was a rewrite. I wish it would have taken longer. And I still feel that it's a setup for their next bit of drama with Hayley making her reference to them being a clue. Perhaps her potential team-up with SPS will be the way they bring Kenny's murder back into play. Joey approaches her. Hayley uses her info on Martin's Secret to figure it out...assuming she does not know the part about Kenny's Murder. She tells SPS. SPS naturally use it as an ace over the Duprees. Of course, there's a Nicole vs SPS scene. First, SPS threatened Kat. Now, she has info and threatens Martin, too? Catfight ensues.

I second wishing it took longer for Smitty and Martin to reunite or at least not go from at odds to marriage at the speed of light. 

I actually enjoyed Ashley on Friday's episode. Her and Naomi's interactions were well done. 

I'm not getting the intense anger Naomi is feeling towards Jacob. While I understand that she is firm on her stance that she has not and does not want kids, Jacob is human and perhaps the thought of his wife being pregnant and a kid being an actual reality sparked something in him. I also don't feel like Jacob was being pushy at all. He was asking her to really consider it and I respect Naomi for being firm in her belief. However, once Naomi found out she wasn't pregnant, she should have been relieved and talked to Jacob like an adult and said that kids is a non-negotiable for her and if he doesn't feel that way then he needs to make a choice. And the truth is that man wants her and has told her that she is above everything, but she is here acting all ridiculous. 

I am so frustrated by the situation that I just need Naomi to leave Jacob and get pregnant and have a baby with someone else. And then just say that it wasn't the baby, but the idea of Jacob as a father or something like that. I have known two people IRL who swore off kids as long as I've known them but as soon as they left their partner, they got knocked up and had kids.

I was enjoying their looks of longing and them having to navigate their complex feelings over everything. I even found the 'moment of weakness' with Smitty sleeping with Martin realistic and resonating which appeared to be in the minority of the main opinions I've seen everywhere else. Same for Martin standing up for himself with his beautiful 'all or nothing' monologue...some of Brandon's best work...I FELT that. BUT...it really does feel like the speed of light...with no visible cracks...than what I was expecting. It's part of the reason that I feel something is coming and they are about to be tested so they needed to be reunited first. They not only still have tension from Martin's Secret/Kenny's Murder (internal conflict), but the shadow of Joey (for Martin) and the presence of June (for Smitty)-the last two external conflict. I am happy that in 8 months, I do feel invested enough and they are one of the premiere soap couples on the show.

 

I agree. Ashley always works when she plays supporting versus the main story. Even the storyline of Dark Derek...I'm more invested in Derek than Ashley...and I should be anticipating her (and even caring)  finding out. 

I'm feeeling sad without my daily dose of the poison widow. I want my BTG.

I also didn't mind Smitty's moment of weakness. Like you, I thought it was realistic. Smitty was dealing with complex feelings for his husband and ended up thinking with his member. I can see some trouble coming their way. I don't think it's coincidence that they keep bringing up Joey Armstrong.
