-- I agree with those saying there's an avoidance of drama and no stakes to too many storylines these days. The show isn't doing what it did in the first 6 months. -- I'm more than happy with the cast (with a couple exceptions we all agree on). Sadly, that's made weak writing stand out even more. -- Storylines need movement. Want to call it melodrama? Fine, then give me some melodrama. Story after story has been neutered either by moving in another direction or by slowing it down. For example, the lack of movement in the Bill/Hayley story is just insane. -- What they've done to Leslie is unforgivable. Calling her a cartoon is exactly right. They insert her into far too many scenes, giving her too much supposed power and money. Instead of a great one-liner from her and a good insult, we get her calling characters names like "Itty bitty kitty litty." It's not biting and it's not funny. -- They should stop with Eva and Kat at each others' throats unless they give them a better reason. The Eva/Izaiah relationship is a dud to me. They've been together only a month or two and the guy says she knows him better than anyone ever has. Huh? We've been shown none of this, and their talks have all been surface-level and cliche. -- Dani couldn't continue to be Week One crazy, but they've sanded her down way too much. -- I was so nuts for and about Nicole in the first months of the show that I can't explain. Class, beauty, smarts. This New Nicole not only disappoints me, it annoys me. -- You want the blood plasma story to work? Then stop writing Jacob and Smitty as Mutt and Jeff. -- I'll spare you another rant about the power Joey Armstrong has in town. -- Months-long buildups that fizzle are not good. We had that with Winterfest, and I can't defend what we got. Are we heading for the same thing with this Cotillion? -- I don't like this go-to of having characters disappear for LONG stretches and then bringing them back so we can say "Oooooh...I knew we'd get back to Laura one day." Then Laura disappears again. But yeah, she'll be back in a few months. Is that the game plan with Allison? With Deanna? -- The Anita story is really well done, but a soap needs more going for it than a cancer storyline.
