Michele Val Jean, The Gates, #TheGates

As the cast and crew of “Beyond the Gates” celebrated taping the show’s 200th episode this week, reports emerged online indicating that episodes from Season 1 of the daytime drama series would air through November, with Season 2 launching immediately afterward. That information is incorrect.

Soap Opera Network has learned that new episodes from Season 1 of “Beyond the Gates” will continue to air through the end of 2025, and following a brief production hiatus, filming for Season 2 will commence in September with those episodes scheduled to air in 2026 – the soap opera is roughly four plus months ahead in terms of tape-to-air, and two plus months ahead script-to-tape.

In May, CBS renewed the soap opera for a second season, with the network touting the show’s success and improving its time period by +48% among Total Viewers, according to  Most Current and Season-to-Date ratings data released by Nielsen at the time.

“To my #BeyondTheGates family: can you believe we shot episode 200 today?! I’m so grateful for every single one of you and I love you all with my whole heart,” said Michele Val Jean, the show's creator, showrunner, executive producer and head writer, in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you for your talent, commitment and dedication. Here’s to the next 200.”

Val Jean’s post was in response to an Instagram reel shared by cast member Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas) that was later re-shared by Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa McBride), among others, which shows the cast and crew celebrating their accomplishment with a party that took place at Assembly Studios, where the series is taped in Atlanta.

Other cast members also shared behind-the-scenes videos and messages for the show’s fans, thanking them for their support.

Brandon Claybon (Martin Richardson) on X: “Cheers to the 200th episode on #BeyondTheGates! Thank you!!”

Sean Freeman (Andre Richardson) on Instagram: “Yooo! We did it!!! Andre Richardson has successfully completed the 1st 200 episodes one of BTG!! My 1st series regular role (main cast) on daytime television. Lord u have been so faithful & your grace has been sufficient. NOTE: We don’t have “seasons” in the soap world, but here’s to the next 200, and beyond! LFGOOO”

Keith Robinson (Dr. Ted Richardson) on X: “Happy 200th Episode to the amazing cast and crew of Beyond the Gates”. . . .#beyondthegates

Maurice P. Kerry (Randy Parker) on X: Happy 200th Episode from #BeyondtheGates. Thank you to the fans, followers, and BTG family. With love and appreciation, I’m looking forward to season 2 from #EyeCandyRandy

On Thursday, August 21, Ambyr Michelle posted a message on Instagram, giving her personal perspective on wrapping her first season as a series regular on a television show, saying, “We officially made it to 200 episodes! God is sooo amazing!! Here’s to 2,000 more! And BEYOND that!!!” She added, “Although there’s no ‘wrapping’ in the Soap World — we’re honored to go into episode 201. Stay Tuned!!!”

On Sunday, August 24, “Beyond the Gates” will officially mark its six-month anniversary since making its debut on CBS (February 24, 2025) and streaming on Paramount+.

Recently, Pluto TV launched a dedicated “Beyond the Gates” channel, allowing fans to watch the series 24/7, with the latest episodes dropping eight days after their premiere on CBS.

So, BTG has 200 episode seasons while the others have 250+ episode seasons? How does that work? I'm very curious what happens since they are 50+episodes less than the other soaps. What will fill the timeslot? Repeats?

Congratulations on episode 200! That is so exciting!

Well, keep in mind they came in as mid-season (per traditional network seasons).

The initial order was for 200 episodes. They'll still air 250 or so episodes each year, regardless, unless those preemptions we experienced this year become a regular thing.

I assumed the 200 episode pick up was due to starting a little later then the initial season start... so I'm curious if season 2 will have 250 episode seasons or not.

I also wonder if we will be getting future 1 week episode pre-emptions through the end of 2025 during the holidays?   Labor Day is right around the corner so we shall see.

Bringing this over from another thread, thanks to @dragonflies for finding this.

Ben Gavin's script cover shows that episode 171 will air on Thursday November 13, 2025.

We know that episode 119 will air Monday August 25, 2025.

By my calculations, if there are no preemptions or repeats between August 25 and November 13, then episode 171 would air on Wednesday November 5.
If the only preemption is for Labor Day September 1st, then episode 171 would air Thursday November 6.

Possibilities:

  • My calculations might be wrong?
  • (maybe) There's another week of preemptions or repeats coming between August 25 and November 13?
  • The script cover airdate is erroneous?
  • The script contains scenes from more than one episode?
  • The script was for a single episode that was scheduled to air November 13; but things have since been edited/rearranged and it will air earlier and there are no preemptions?

They better not do that without warning again... :(

I wonder if the dates changed after this due to the pre emptions and then the week long pre emption?

If there are scheduling issues like we've seen in the past, I anticipate repeats to air on at least the following holidays:

  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day

There's also Thanksgiving preemption due to sports.

Based on the script date and air date shown, and what we know about Season 1 ending at the end of 2025, there could at least be another week of repeats headed our way, unless the 200th episode isn't the final episode order for Season 1. We'll soon find out for sure.

Note: The way it was told to me was that Season 1 was winding down, not that episode 200 was their final episode for Season 1. However, that could still mean the same thing.

I wonder why they only got 200 episode Season, is that common with the hour soaps? BOLD gets around 250 a season

Probably because of the late start date and because that's an easy number to settle on. Based on when the show premiered you would've lost 7 or 8 weeks depending on if you start 12/30 or 1/6. That is already 35-40 episodes lost. Maybe 200 looked better than picking up 210 for year old. We'll see. Maybe we will have more dark weeks or maybe they quietly added more to pad the year out.
