I've noticed some news articles about Tristan had originally reported on July 17, 2025 that his cancer diagnosis was announced by his rep, and said *then* that he had last aired November 12, 2024.  It wasn't known then that he'd be airing on GH on July 17 and July 18, 2025 so that was a surprise.

However I've seen new articles uploaded since August 15 talking about his death, which also say there that he last aired November 12, 2024.  Apparently they copy/pasted the same "last aired" date from their prior article.

I'm not naming those sites here because it's not worth worrying about, and because they might edit their articles later.  I'd rather keep the focus on Tristan himself.

I just think it's important to note that he made the effort to appear in those two July episodes despite being so ill.

Another daytime icon, gone forever.

Oh God.  This is all too much for this lifelong soap fan to bear.

RIP.

RIP. It doesn't get a lot of attention but he was outstanding in Sean Kanan's Studio City.

Sean Kanan (along with his wife Michele Kanan) was the showrunner for Studio City.

I just learned that my friend Tristan has passed. I’m struggling to express my feelings which are raw. @michele.kanan and I have had countless adventures with Trissie Roo (my affectionate nickname for him) and his incredible wife @teresaprogers Tris and I worked together professionally on numerous projects. He was an extremely gifted actor and a kind and passionate man. His veneer was sometimes prickly and he didn’t suffer fools but he always made me laugh especially when he cracked that charming sideways grin and man did he have stories. I am going to miss my friend. Rest in peace, pal. Wishing the Rogers family love and strength during this difficult time. #tristenrogers

Years ago Tristan and I worked together on Sam Shepherd’s play, True West, which I produced with @michele.kanan. Tristan had never done theater before and had reservations. He trusted me and I cast him because I always knew he was a very special actor. Years later when I was creating @studiocity.show I knew I wanted Tris to be a part of the project. It wasn’t easy to convince him. I looked him in the eyes and promised him that if he trusted me again, I would write a role for him that would show the world his true capabilities. I also told him point blank that he would win an Emmy. In retrospect that must have sounded pretty arrogant. That wasn’t my intention. I simply had that much faith in Tris. He did in fact win the Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor. If you haven’t seen Studio City please watch it. This is not about me or even about the show but rather watching Tristan’s incredibly nuanced performance. He combined world weary wisdom and self awareness with heartbreaking strength in the face of his character’s life threatening challenges. Please watch his incredible work. You can find Studio City on Prime, Roku, Tubi and other platforms. I rewatched his scenes last night as I wrestled with the cutting pain of his passing. It brought me to tears. I will forever treasure our friendship and the opportunity I had to work with such a gifted performer.

Wish I could play one more scene with you, my friend. Tris sauntered into my dressing room on that first day to rehearse. Cropped hair & steel blue eyes, I thought ‘damn, I’m gonna be working with Steve McQueen!’ From day one he called me ‘kid’ or ‘Finny’ and he made me laugh. An effortless actor, living on screen, he taught me so much. Serious about his work, but always a rebel. His own man, navigating the system, he protected me, protected Kimberly, his character, his friends. God, he was a good one. Silly, funny, kind, serious. I am heartbroken for his awesome wife Teresa, his children Sara Jane & Cale. His family made him so happy and he adored talking about them. Love you Trissy, Mai Tai’s on the beach, Scorpio… 🏝️ 🕊️

When Kimberly McCullough posted on her IG yesterday "Trissy forever", I didn't know what she meant, was that a portmanteau for two characters or two actors?

But then I saw that Finola Hughes and Sean Kanan both referred to Tristan Rogers as "Trissy" and "Tris".  And I think other cast members referred to Tristan as "Tris".

I've been a fan of Tristan Rogers for decades, but I never knew until now that his coworkers called him Trissy.

Robert Scorpio had a real cool apartment
And a cool English lady, Holly, for his wife
A former spy and then police commissioner
He led an exciting and idyllic life
Rescuing Felicia, the ice princess
Saving the world from the Prometheus Disc
With his fiendish friends Sean and Luke
But then he grew old and faded into the mist.

General Hospital was very much a part of my summer/school holiday childhood and teen years.  Thank you to Tristain Rogers for such wonderful morning TV memories.

Robert Scorpio was one of my favorite characters and loved the mysteries and intrigue the character had.

There was nothing like GH at that time.  I am glad I got to watch it live.

@Khan I know what you mean.  This hits me hard. So many memories.

The In Memoriam segment at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards is really going to hit hard.

RIP Tristan Rogers and thank you for your contributions to daytime television.
