ARTICLE: Television Academy Reveals First Two ’77th Primetime Emmy Awards’ Categories Will Be Announced During ‘CBS Mornings’

The Television Academy, the governing body behind the Primetime Emmy Awards, is following in the footsteps of sorts of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) by releasing nominations for some of the categories a few hours before the full list of nominees is revealed on Tuesday, July 15.

On Monday evening, the organization announced that nominations for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Talk Series will be announced during the “CBS Mornings” What to Watch segment, starting at 7:47 a.m. ET/4:47 a.m. PT.

The change in release will primarily impact the late-night and reality categories, with the remaining categories set to be released some four hours later, starting at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT, with Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén presenting alongside Television Academy chair Cris Abrego during a live stream event.

According to reports, one factor leading to the decision to announce those categories during the CBS morning show stems from the network likely doing well with their respective shows receiving nominations, particularly as CBS is hosting this year’s ceremony, with the “The 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” airing LIVE coast to coast from the Peacock Theater in L.A. on Sunday, September 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.

Nate Bargatze is set to host the awards show, which will also be available to Stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+.

Shows expected to receive nominations this year, like they have in previous years, include “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Amazing Race,” among others.

Last week, the first eight categories for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” were announced during the evening broadcasts of the four entertainment news shows, including “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood,” “Extra,” and “E! News.”

The categories announced included Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Lifestyle Program, Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Instructional Series, Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, Outstanding Travel or Adventure Program, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Instructional/How-To Program.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I mentioned in my first post here that I've been watching a few different eras. Lately, it's been late March 1993, so here are some assorted thoughts on the week of March 22 to March 26. I don't think I can do something like this with every episode I watch, nor do I think anyone would want me to, but it was fun to write.
It got really long, so I am going to try putting it in spoiler tags.

Somewhere during Riche it almost seemed like the docks got gentrified. It became more the pier set, and the launch to the island when people came and went from Wyndemere. They deliberately made those sets look nicer. If anything, the sets they have been using for the docks/warehouse district under Valentini now look more shady, like where Rocco just shot Callum. It’s the only set that isn’t brightly lit!
I don’t really think of Kelly’s as being in any way rough and tumble anymore once Liz worked there. Jagger was introduced robbing the place, and Lucky being chased out of Kelly’s by Frank Smith’s thugs when he arrived wasn’t a big deal. Now it’s just really bland and Carly pouring coffee is ridiculous.

Lol! We all can have sour grapes about JJ's return. I just suspect we will never get real answers on why it all fell apart.
Havins does really well creating the feeling that she has known these people for years. She immediately clicked with her entire family and it's so rare to see. But, you know, she gets awful writing.
I am not saying Laura should really even have a huge part in Ethan's story, but I loved how magnanimous she was with him and Ethan was slightly disarmed she was so gracious. It was a nice change from his sometimes goofy swagger. It was a real moment instead of Luke repeating Laura trapped him and dragged him down.

I always thought the only acceptable way Todd should have remained on the show was if he stayed a miserable loner and at odds with everyone. If they HAD to put him with someone, it should have stayed dysfunctional like how it was with Tea. He should have avoided sex and not had any kids.
I don't think serial rapists deserve happy endings🤷‍♀️

I guess in-universe it changed around the time they opened that mall on the waterfront in 1992. Did we get to see much of that place? Was it another keeping up with the jones thing in response to Days and Salem Place?

Wow. Actually caught up. It's been a minute! :)

For all of my complaints over the writing the last few days, I thought this episode was a nice coda to the whole week. What plot they focused on came to some end and/or turn. Thank you, Nat.

I'll be honest. I don't want Vanessa vs Nicole to end so soon. But that didn't take away from their scenes for me. Adults coming to some kind of understanding. And we got a flashback to how they met. Adorable.

So that was the point of Babygate? lol. I was talking about how Dani/Andre was too background and far away from the Hayley storyline. But great to see Babygate is the way to get them back into that orbit. Okay, Show, I see you. I actually enjoyed the Dani/Bill scenes even though it was annoying at the same time cuz Dani playing with fire again.

The fallout from Jacob's beatdown was okay. At least Naomi knows. But that is probably only going to add to her stress.

And there were some C plots. I thought it was cute in a Soaps 101 way the Eva/Izaiah/Kat scenes cuz like I said ever...there is so much potential in that rivalry and those two girls shouldn't be getting along anytime soon. Meanwhile, the start of a Vernon plot while Anita's story appears to be coming to a break is just heartbreaking. I don't want anything happening to Vernon. At all.

As I have been watching the Monty run, its interesting how the waterfront once represented a distinct working class culture (however, like you said, Kelly's was still a known place to the richer characters and people like Edward Quartermaine would pop in at times). I mean "the docks" as a concept still exists on the show today, but you never see random dock workers hanging out at Kelly's anymore.

I don't think they lied either. It has been clear they had the major plotpoints planned out just through the superb foreshadowing dialogue they had those first few months. I'm still wonder if they are still going to plan a baby switch on Kat and Eva in fact due to a lot of their foreshadowing that has come to pass in other storylines in the first year.

That said...yes, they have made the timeline for some things too wonky.
