I don't remember Setton being this prudish when she started on GH. I thought it was gradual. I may be wrong. I thought she was perfectly cast at the beginning.

She wasn't that prudish.  I believe it started after she had her children, which is fine, but not right for the role anymore.

I would say she's definitely been a tad more 'conservative' in comparison to what I've seen of her in other roles. But she's usually been covered up top and in either pants or a pencil skirt on the bottom.

She's way more conservative than she was on OLTL lol.  I totally get priorities change, but wearing a Michael Jackson Bad suit to the Nurses Ball is not a thing lol.  Women like Willow, Sasha, Liz, Portia all look professional and fairly modest, but Setton takes to a whole other level.

I agree, especially when she continues to put on the same skirt all the time; it's clear she has no problem showing off her legs (to a point), but anything above the waist? That's a no-go for her. BLQ has become matronly, which she has never been up to Setton's assume of the role.

I actually get her point to a degree because it's clear she's not as tiny as she was on OLTL and people dragged DG for being pasty and out of shape today, but it's more a distraction than a cover up now.

Personally, I would have left the whole modesty/religion/partner situation out of it and just would have tried to find better fitting garments.  Because the modesty thing becomes a whole topic now when I probably wouldn't have noticed it that much if she wasn't preaching about respect for her spouse and children.

If you're not what society deems as 'gorgeous', then people will tear you down and drag you for it. Yet, will also turn around and support everyone. Hypocritical, honestly.

That would require the head of costume to do their job, which I do not feel they do, especially for those who happen to be of a bigger size (in comparison to others on the set). Her size, much like when Kirsten Storms was larger than she is now, is not the issue: the costuming is the ultimate issue.

If you look at pictures of Amanda Setton on Getty Images or the like, where she's really dressed up, red carpet, etc. back when she was on OLTL, it is a totally different person, at least as far as clothes go. Look, you'll see. And, the way she was comfortable dressing at the end of that time, is likely the way she was at the beginning of her tenure at GH. I think she married & this is speculation but something about her new husband made her begin some kind of transformation. It's a theory. Shoot it full of holes, at will.

Lol.  DG would have gotten dragged if he showed up in a suit at the pool and now got dragged because he went shirtless.  People calling him a vampire and nonsense.  Some people are just pale or fair skinned?  He's not a ghost or albino or anything.

I think wardrobe has a huge sensitivity issue with these actresses and I absolutely get that, but it's still doing a disservice to them by not dressing them properly when they gain a few pounds after having kids or whatever lol.

Again, @Contessa Donatella, stop spreading speculation and false rumors.  There have been multiple articles where Amanda talks at length about her and her husband's religion and beliefs.  She has always practiced Judaism.   It doesn't appear that her husband made her join a cult or anything.

And even if he were, that does not mean he shouldn't be allowed.

I absolutely concur, and it does seem to be a GH-specific issue in the past several years. I remember when Melody Thomas Scott was a bit... heavier (for lack of word), and she was still serving fashion as Nikki; she never slumped or wore oversized, boxy clothing.

You must have missed the times when they dressed Nikki in the most unflattering clothes. Great big belts that cut her in half and too tight clothing that over emphasized every bulge. She looked awful.

DG should be able to do whatever he wants if he's comfortable.  Not everyone has an amazing 6 pack at 53 lol.  Actually, almost no one does.

MTS has years on her side (I mean this in a good way).  She knows her brand, her styling, and knows the audience doesn't care if she gains 15lbs as long as she serves.  She has the confidence these younger girls lack and they shouldn't.   But, again, the internet can be very cruel these days.

Not even 53... in general; I'm done with the unrealistic expectations that daytime seems to need to keep.

Absolutely! She always slayed. And she even said she brought her own shoes in for Nikki to wear. But Nikki never looked like she came out of a thrift shop or didn't have a mirror.

I don't really mind finding the hunks under 30 with a six pack because they are a dime a dozen in Hollywood.  But Professor Animal Experimenter does not strike me as being solely focused on fitness in the way that Drew, Jason, Curtis, or even Jax's backgrounds would expect.  It's not like iconic characters like Luke, Robert, Alan, or Tony were hitting the gym every night either.

Not saying DG's character is iconic, but there was less focus on characters being "hot" at 50 in the 90's whether that's right or wrong.  Guza was probably too busy thinking of ways to kill them off.

I definitely remember some extremely unflattering clothes during her heavier years.

Lol!  I don't watch Y&R enough to know, but I always thought MTS looked pretty put together when I saw her.

I don't even think Setton looks like she came out of a thrift shop or looks unkempt.  Her hair and makeup usually look great.  Her clothes are just ugly and also overly dressy and formal.  She comes over and yells at Lulu in a dressy business skirt and long sleeve silk blouse while Alexa Havins is wearing jeans and a t-shirt.  It makes Brook Lynn appear much older and matronly.  Unless AS is in a fluffy white bathrobe she never dresses casually.  Every other woman on the show except maybe Laura and Tracy wear jeans and more laid-back outfits when they aren't working.

It's definitely an "actor" choice versus a "character" one. Comparison to Adrianne León and Briana Lane proves it's definitely actor versus character, and I hate it. It's the same thing when Nicole Paggi first pinch-hit for Kirsten Storms as Maxie.
