There's a strong chance of that happening, but I think these characters are seen as more important by the show than Trina and Curtis.

I think the circumstances here, on paper anyway, mean they would have much more involvement in Gio's life than under many circumstances. Brook Lynn may not have another child and is full of regrets. Dante is also regretful, especially after he had to treat Gio like [!@#$%^&*] for dramatic angst. Dante is also the product of parents who are perpetually over involved in the lives of their children.  Chase will always look at Gio and see the child he and Brook Lynn can't have, which will mean there's a chance for a lot of tension or an implosion of their marriage. There's also the Brook Lynn vs Lulu aspect.

I don't see Gio staying around more than another year or two, admittedly...if the show is still on by that point. But if the show makes an effort, the story is there.

I honestly stopped watching GH for years and never watched it in the 90’s so the retcons to make this story work don’t bother me like it does long time consistent viewers. The performances in the story have been fantastic to me and as someone who has always loved the Quartermaines, adding a new one is right up my alley. Guza was hell bent on destroying the family but it honestly seems like the GH of today understands their importance and Jane Elliott is AMAZING as the matriarch of the family now.

I never wanted Gio to be Dante and BLQ's kid. I made that clear many months ago, and I still don't. I think this show regularly leans on insta-kids and baby storylines that age up viable performers (DZ, Setton, etc.) too much to pad out months of the show every year, and leave it more incestuous. I think it's very lazy.

That said, good drama is good drama and good performances are good performances. I'm not going to begrudge GH for doing good work with this material when I see good work on air. I haven't watched all of it yet but I do think GM has done very good work as have the vets. I had a feeling early on after his hiring that his charisma and appeal could carry him far if they wrote for him - several of us noted his joy in carrying a lot of throwaway domestic scenes with the Qs - and they are now doing that. I don't particularly want or need him to be Dante's large adult son but I think for someone who is a musician first he's become another of the soap opera (and particularly GH) success stories in this arena. And I care about Gio and what happens to him, while also thinking he has real chemistry with the smart and unconventionally spiky Emma they've cast (though he also could with Trina and y'know, some cute boys). I just wish the show was consistently good enough to give these actors better story.

It's 2025 and GH is still on the air. We all take our victories where we can get them day to day.

Dante, FTW!

It's about time someone finally ripped Lulu a new one. She's been insufferable these past weeks and I'm glad that someone finally called her out on it. But Dante blaming Lulu for Gio wanting nothing to do with him was a bit of a stretch though. That's all on you, bro.

Btw, did Olivia seriously blame herself for Sonny shooting Dante??

Gio and Emma were really sweet though. I love how she was there for him. She's definitely the friend that he needs right now. Hopefully, they get to share their first kiss soon

And agreed, that Rory Gibson is doing a good job. He doesn't seem to be blowing as much hot air as (Sorry, Chad) Chad Duell used to do sometimes. I do think that Michael still seems to be a bit of a bitch when it comes to how he's dealing with Sasha and the baby but that's on the writing, not Rory. And I really, really hope that he directs some of this anger at Sonny too.

And yeah, with the way Drew was speaking to Willow in the car today... maybe that rumor is true

I should add that Rory Gibson, who I remembered being somnambulant on Y&R, has impressed me so far as Michael. There is the edge and steel or danger to him that recalls not just Drew Garrett's Michael but Chad back when he cared (and had decent day to day writing in his first couple years), as well as some of Kanan and Billy Warlock.

(I'd still put his Michael with screwball Maxie way far down the road though - opposites attract.)

I think it's a bit dismissive to just hand wave all the inaccuracies in this story because we are getting a few weeks of good material off this.

I do agree the follow through is a different discussion, but I would bet in 3 months time everything will be all good in the Lois, BLQ, Dante, Gio world.

Lol!  You and I will still be here when they all are celebrating the 4th of July at the Q boathouse.

Thanks. I am not trying to gatekeep me watching all these years for others that haven't watched.  But I unfortunately did lol and I unfortunately can't forget lol.  So for people who are saying well I didn't watch for 20 years and it doesn't bother me I do get it. I am glad you enjoyed your life outside of 1pm all this time

    • The other reason I enjoy Belle and EJ is that it has really lit a spark in Martha Madison. MM's Belle was always such a sad imitation of the delightful way she was played by KS.  But, I feel like she's come alive with this new pairing.  She's aware, she's astute, and she is being totally logical about an illogical attraction. I can honestly say this is the only time that I have enjoyed this iteration of Belle (and Philip).
    • When Pam Long was the headwriter, Reva was written as someone that wore her heart on her sleeve and was driven by insecurity, lust, and impulse. Partly due to her early childhood trauma, partly as a form of rebellion against her strict mother, and also partly due to being abandoned by her father for awhile.   The problem with the character of Reva was that she was revived in 1995 during the more back to basics era in soap operas... and she stuck out like a sore thumb.

    • I've always liked Kim Zimmer. She's a very good actress. I think the majority of the resentment comes from how much air she, or rather, Reva, sucked out of the show. There were periods where it felt like it was All Reva, All The Time. So many male characters had to be madly on love with her, even when they had zero chemistry with her. Her rival characters, like Sonni and Annie, were practically turned into psychos (somehow Olivia escaped that fate). She was given bizarre storylines, like the clone and time travel stories, to keep her front burner. It wasn't enough to have ONE bizarre reason she was missing (living with the Amish) she had to have TWO (princess of a Caribbean island, with a secret kid--her second one--to boot). She got an insane amount of attention from TPTB, to the detriment of other characters. Possibly because the actress weaponized her fans. Maybe that's an unfair assessment, but seems to me her day had come and gone and yet she was still centered so much on the show. I agree. In the beginning she was a very good character with a beautifully composed backstory. If they had kept her grounded like that, I am certain few would have complained about her.
    • Very true...and that was the heart of what the character was and excelled at..everyone goes on about the Slut of Springfield scene, but damn, did the writing and acting come together when Reva confronted Pharoh about her early molestation by him.  THAT is the stuff that worked...not being the Queen of a dumb island.
    • Frank Valentini should thank his proverbial lucky stars that JE came out of retirement.
    • I liked Reva, too, but as I've said before, no one at that show besides Pamela K. Long knew how to write for her or for KZ.  You don't plunge a character who is OTT by design into circumstances that are equally (or more) OTT.  The trick with a character like Reva Shayne Lewis is to keep the storylines as down-to-earth as possible and allow her emotions to be bigger.  I've always said that both Reva and KZ were at their finest when they were dealing with relatively mundane things like Josh's paralysis, her marriage to H.B. and her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage.
    • I agree!  AE was just one of those performers who could draw you in, no matter what.  I don't believe I ever saw her phone in any performance on any show.  To me, she always gave 100%.  God, how I miss seeing her on TV every day.
    • Did OLTL have books in 80's like the other soaps that covered the early storylines of the show?
    • I liked (not loved) the character of Reva. I just didn't like how she ate the show.
