Webmaster Errol Posted yesterday at 01:09 AM Webmaster Share Posted yesterday at 01:09 AM With preemptions and interruptions across the board on Monday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 9, due to breaking news coverage on the stock market and tariff wars between the United States and China, the week of April 7-11, 2025 saw several daytime broadcast shows hit season or series lows in various ratings categories. Continuing to rank last among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.214 million) tied its season low in the former category (0.13 rating) for the fourth time this season while hitting a new season low in the latter category (0.18 rating). Among Total Viewers, the ABC News broadcast, which is marketed as the third hour of “Good Morning America” (2.732 million), hit a new season low among Total Viewers, down -120,000 week-to-week (1.214 million vs. 1.334 million) and -304,000 year-over-year (1.214 million vs. 1.518 million). This was also one of the lowest, if not the lowest, performances ever for “GMA3” among Total Viewers. “GMA3: What You Need to KnowABC News As noted last week, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (1.159 million) continues to be a cause for concern for NBC as the current iteration of the fourth hour of the “TODAY” brand hit a new season low, and likely a series low, among Total Viewers. Compared to the same week last year, the program was down -359,000 viewers (1.159 million vs. 1.518 million) from how “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” performed and down -30,000 viewers from its week ago performance (1.159 million vs. 1.189 million), with the gap between it and “NBC News Daily” (1.136 million) now just +23,000 viewers. That said, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” continues to perform on par with the bottom half of daytime broadcast among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.30 rating), including “General Hospital” (1.796 million). Speaking of the ABC sop opera, it saw a minor decline of -15,000 viewers from the week ago period (1.796 million vs. 1.811 million), but was down a more substantial -218,000 viewers compared to the same week last year (1.796 million vs. 2.014 million). Demographically, the show’s 0.19 rating among Women 18-49 was down -0.02 from one week earlier (0.19 rating vs 0.21 rating), and its 0.29 rating among Women 25-54 was down -0.03 week-to-week (0.29 rating vs. 0.32 rating). Compared to the same week last year, “General Hospital” was down -0.05 among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating vs. 0.24 rating) and down -0.09 among Women 25-54 (0.29 rating vs. 0.38 rating), marking daytime broadcast’s largest year-over-year drop among Women 25-54. “Beyond The Gates”CBS As “Beyond the Gates” (1.557 million) continues to perform well enough in the key sales demographics, its performance among Total Viewers might be a subject of concern. After seven weeks, the series is averaging just 1.650 million viewers, with three of those weeks below 1.6 million viewers. That said, the new soap opera saw significant gains over the same seven-week period last year when “The Talk” held the time slot, with the series up +401,000 viewers (1.650 million vs. 1.249 million) over the since canceled talk show. Meanwhile, among the key demos, the show was down -0.01 week-to-week in both Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.22 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.36 rating). Compared to the same week last year, “Beyond the Gates” was up +0.04 among Women 18-49 over the year ago performance of “The Talk” (0.21 rating vs. 0.17 rating) and up +0.11 among Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.24 rating), the largest year-over-year gain among daytime broadcast. While “The Young and the Restless” (2.998 million) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.624 million) both fell from their recent ratings high performances, they were virtually on par with their year ago period among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. In the case of the half-hour soap, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up +0.02 year-over-year among Women 25-54 (0.44 rating vs. 0.42 rating) whileflat year-over-year among Women 18-49 rating (0.25 rating). Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of April 7-11, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a week-to-week and year-over-year performance comparison. Note*: The year ago performance for “Beyond the Gates” is compared to “The Talk.” Ditto for “Today with Jenna & Friends,” which is compared with “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” Week of April 7-11, 2025 Rankers Women 18-49 Rating Rank / Show / NetworkThis WeekLast Week20241.
