Like I said, it was on the news last night. So for me, it was something that could have waited. And I can think of far more pressing news from what I saw last night that could early have cut into today that concerned me...and frankly the rest of the country. That was more of a big deal since no one would want history to repeat itself circa 1940s.

But I edited that OUT of my original post since we are here to talk about THIS show. Not politics.

no, it wasn’t on the news last night. what was on last night was them getting picked up. this live coverage is of the actual splash down. they’re back on earth. as i type, they are exiting the capsule.

might be in the minority here, but, at least for me, this is newsworthy!

and, it’s not like the old days when a soap aired and that was it. there are available options to watch.

There was a line of dialogue today that really bugged me. I guess that's down to today's scriptwriter Lynn Martin, who I have long admired. The line was about how it is just impossible to get this whole family together. WHAT?!!! The extended Dupree family gets together with each other every single day!!! Now, sure, they may not have 100% attendance. But, between meeting for meals, events & family meetings, they see each other quite a lot. I guess I should just laugh it off.

I'm catching back up again on this show. My work schedule is the busiest this time of year, so right now I'm binge watching this show (about five episodes) one day a week. I'm almost caught up again. I look forward to April where things will slow down for me some and I will be able to catch this show daily. Here are some of my latest thoughts:

I continue to love Eva. I think she's awesome and I'm really enjoying her interactions with the cast especially her alleged family. She's got nice chemistry with Ted, Nicole, Kat, Martin, etc... I like how as another posted pointed out it seems like she's falling for her alleged new family. Loved her getting rid of Leslie at Nicole's ceremony.

The theory that Chris B mentioned several pages back about her possibly Nicole and Ted's daughter had crossed my mind as well. I would love that especially since she has such a nice rapport with both of them. I have doubts about her really being Leslie's daughter. Maybe Leslie did steal her from them somehow, I think something like that could work and could be soapy. Especially considering her ongoing feud with Kat. It would be dramatic enough if she's Ted's daughter but to somehow make her Nicole's long-lost daughter as well, would bring even more fuel to their already heated rivalry. I would be here for something like that. It will be interesting to see what her paternity really ends up being.

Regarding Martin, I wonder if he murdered an abusive ex, stalker or something along those lines. Maybe that might help explain why he's so adamant about Smitty staying at home and out of the spotlight. Maybe his secret is one reason he's so adamant about that, though he has been coming across as controlling and manipulative regarding Smitty and his role. I do think that Martin may have killed someone, and I'm interested in learning what his secret really is. Smitty telling him he's safe after one of his nightmares, makes me wonder what Smitty may know/suspect about his secret (unless I missed something regarding Smitty's possibly knowledge of his secret).

I continue to love Nicole, she's another one of my favorite characters on the show. DD is a breath of fresh air, she is so vital to the Dupree family. I'm also still enjoying Ted, Vernon, Anita and others.

I agree, Kat and Eva are some of the best parts of watching the show. Ambry(Eva) really stood out to me as a natural from day one. I wouldn't make them related though, I believe there is greater story options without that.

These two have the potential to become Iconic and sit at the table with Vicki/Dorian, Brooke/Erica, heck even Phyllis/Dru. Let's see if the writers rise to the occasion.

Ooooh, look at yall favorite bad bish, THAT girl herself, laid out on the damn floor, probably pissy and shtty drunk. The wait staff at the country club waited on her hand and foot while ignoring Hayley, but once again, Hayley is at home with Bill, and Dani is a week away from cirrhosis of the liver. She really is trash!

Eva creeping on Tomas was out of left field for me. Randomly telling a stranger that you want him to bring you to multiple orgasms is definitely a big girl decision, but it felt like that only happened so that we could see Kat vs. Eva (again).

Naomi does nothing for me as a character, and the scenes with the prospective clients felt like an ethics training video.

As much as The Duprees suck™, I do enjoy their little breakfast scenes as it gets them out of their storylines and grounds them for a while and also gives us interactions between characters that we don’t get to see together, like Vernon and Kat.

Hate to say it, but Kat isn’t a favoriteanymore. I don’t mind her going after Eva, but the character just isn’t what I thought she would be.

Uhhhh NO...I'm pretty sure what I saw in my own room alone with my own eyes on the news last night where I live  WAS a news story about the astronauts. Not their landing...no. What their situation was...yes. I am not going to talk split hairs over another person's opinions on what counts as special report news where I've already explained my own opinion. Moreso when there are other options as well to see the current status of said astronauts without cutting into a show. To each their own.

LOL - I'm glad you said this, because I thought the same thing.  Being in corporate America, I couldn't help but think I was watching my annual ethics/workplace harassment training WBL again.  That being said, I still don't mind Naomi yet.

Here's some more thoughts I have regarding this last batch of episodes I just watched.

I don't care for Hayley and Bill together. She just seems too "young" for him IMO. I don't think they fit well together. I think that it could have worked better if Bill had married another age-appropriate woman that could have actually been a legitimate rival to Dani.

Speaking of Bill I do think he's hot, lol. (To answer another poster's question about the hottest men on this show.) Yeah, he's hot lol. Though I understand that everyone may not agree on that. I am liking him too for now with his dastardly self.

I actually would like to see him and Dani make their way back together down the line and see them the happier version of them. (like the snippet we saw in the flashback). It's definitely looking like Dani is hitting the bottom right now, but maybe after that happens and if she can get herself together. Maybe both of them will have to deal with some/more consequences before that happens.

I think that Ashley is okay, but she doesn't really have much chemistry with anyone on this show. I think that Andre actually has the most chemistry with Eva, but I wouldn't want to see that, if she ends up being his biological cousin.

Also, I don't care for Vanessa or Doug too much. I am enjoying Jon Lindstrom's latest stint Joe the villainous casino owner. It's nice to see him on this show. I do wonder though how their storyline may possibly fit into other storylines/the overall show.

    • I still continue to think that Dani is written like she's been in a soap opera for 20 seasons and she's come to a point where she's completely spent storyline wise. It's a vibe I'm getting. Characterization wise... It's like she is either incredibly stupid... or just plain delusional and out of touch with reality. I choose to pick the second option. Also... to me... she has not been entertaining for months now. Ever since they decided to jump straight to... she's an alcoholic... which we didn't need at this point... the character has struggled. Her initial Ex-wife-from-hell bravado was more interesting, even though cliche.  I expect her to improve in the coming months... they used her as a clown type of character to draw in views. Now I need to see the human being. If there is one, behind the soap opera caricature.
    • A full 1973 episode that looks fantastic in color.
    • It 's obviously cheaper to go the true crime route. Having different reporters and production teams covering a variety of topics costs more. The networks are delivering budget programming these days.
    • Maybe because 60 Minutes has kept the same formula for almost 57 years? Usually, there is more than one interview/topic discussed, like a real magazine. Dateline, 20/20, and so many others have all fallen to the one-subject formula: True crime. I mean, I'm a Forensic Files junkie and loved original America's Most Wanted back in the day, but even I think the TV market has been over-saturated with all crime, all the time. There was still that element when these shows began, but they were a segment of an episode, not the entire episode. Maybe the audience is just getting bored with such a fixed formula. If stories were intermixed with crime, some feel-good segment, and maybe something to do with lifestyle/music/and yes, as much as I have come to hate it, political issues, maybe these shows could rally. As they are - again, minus 60 Minutes - they have become tired and predictable.
    • Interesting tidbit- Robert Newman (Josh) dated Jennifer Cooke (Morgan) when they first started on Guidling Light (it was reported in the press and I think they talked about it in interviews). I did see (as a young kid) Rita having a flashback about Roger's rape of her --and it was confusing as a kid because she was on the floor leaning against her bed and she looked like she was seduced by force and her dress was in disarray, her hair was mussed, make up was a bit messy, but she looked at him with fear, disgust and confusion but the camera was in soft focus (so I get why people may say it was romanticized)--and I remember asking what happened to her and told well she is having nightmares/flashbacks of Roger not being nice to her
    •   Like I said I wasn’t talking about characterization. It makes sense that Dani is in denial. However literally no one in the real world would accuse someone of faking a pregnancy. Why? Because it’s just not feasible. What is Dani supposed to expect from Hayley—that she’ll be hiding a pillow under her shirt 24/7? Come on. The accusation has no legs, and that’s exactly why nobody would ever go there. A far more plausible accusation—one that actually has been made for centuries—is that someone might lie about who the father is. Dani only vaguely hinted at that, but at least that angle would make some narrative sense. I’d go for a coworking space that would be home to these small businesses like Kat and Chelsea’s bag startup (the whole police station trope feels like copaganda to me)
    • I guess RTPP looked worse because it followed Another World, but it's a shame they didn't give it more time especially considering how the shows that were put on following it fared.
