Dan O'Connor was not listed with breakdown writers Tuesday, May 20th (I didn't see the credits on Monday). He was listed with the script writers.  With Jamey also going, looks like Paula and Jean are cleaning out the Ron hires.  We know Rick Draughon returned as breakdown writer last August, so his name should appear in the next several weeks.

What's currently airing (May 2025) for Days was filmed in September 2024, per the metadata of the JPI photos for week of May 19-23.
(But DAYS films lots of things way out of order, so other stuff airing this week might have been filmed in August).

This episode was filmed the week of August 26, 2024 according to Jason47's production schedule list. Assume these scripts are written 4-8 weeks in advance of that date so June/July timeframe.

Sonia Blangiardo is still listed as director this week so it'll be interesting to see if she's gone from Days by June/July air shows given she's a BTG producer since they assembled the crew.

    • Thanks for the tag @DRW50 as always!! This is an era of AMC I’ve read much about yet seen so little of.
    • https://x.com/alanalda/status/1928568971219095943 Alan Alda @alanalda Loretta was a supremely talented actor. She deserved all her 10 EMMY nominations and her 2 wins. But more than acting her part, she created it. She worked hard In showing the writing staff how they could turn the character from a one joke sexist stereotype into a real person -- with real feelings and ambitions. We celebrated the day the script came out listing her character not as Hot Lips, but as Margaret. Loretta made the most of her time here.

    • So happy she is still with us. It's crazy how much my appreciation of her and the classic Guiding Light era she represents has grown! I never read it, but I think the producer she trashed the most was Ellen Wheeler. And I don't think she liked FMB.
    • Very sad to hear. Because of The Powers That Be, I always pictured Valerie Mahaffey as Maris on Frasier. I still occasionally think of her in a Little Orphan Annie costume at the Annual Raisin Festival Masquerade Ball in the soap spoof miniseries Fresno.
    • Happy Birthday, Maeve!  She's a Gemini - interesting. Great insight, thanks for sharing! So I didn't realize Zimmer had a juicy memoir!  Is it worth reading? I'd pick it up and read, if so.  Which producer did she despise??
    • Count me in as someone who likes Pamela and her quirks. She actually reminds me of this coworker of mine who randomly brings out a British accent when she's drinking, and it's not on purpose, it's just the quirky girl she is haha.
    • Finally catching up since I've fallen so behind... I'm pre-40th anniversary celebration.

    • Pam Long wrote the show for a very short period at the end although it's been reported that she was submitting story ideas for a while, I believe she's only credited as head writer for the last 8 weeks or so. After the Corringtons (Aug 80- to Feb 81) Paul hired Dorthea Ann Purser and Sam Ratcliffe (March 2 81 to Nov 6 81). There was a writers' strike from May to July 81 during which time it's been speculated that Rauch hired Gerald Flesher and Paul Rader to write. They later replaced Purser/Ratcliffe as of Nov 9 1981 when Kobe took over as EP. Paul is credited as head writer at least through October 4, 1982. On YouTube I found an episode from Oct 22, 1982 and Pam is credited.  Flesher was fired and out after June 11 1982 episode. I believe Gary Tomlin and Linda Hamner were co heads with Paul through Sept or so then Linda was moved back to scripts/breakdowns (or was fired) and Carolyn Culliton got the third co head writer slot all until Pam was named sole head.
    • Huge kudos to the production team and the writers - we truly got to witness some beautiful and heartfelt moments between John’s extended family. DAYS really pulled off a touching and fitting goodbye for both Bill Hayes (Doug) and Drake Hogestyn (John). You could feel the love and respect for Drake throughout. He came across as a real “super dad,” deeply loved by so many. And Deidre... wow. So strong, holding it all together - she deserves her own standing ovation. A few thoughts that came to mind… I wish we got a short scene of Roman sitting with John - just to thank him for looking after his kids all those years (Carrie, Sami, Eric), and to acknowledge that John and Marlena truly belonged together. It would’ve been such a meaningful moment of closure. I kept hoping Kristen would sneak into John’s room to say goodbye - maybe apologize for all the pain she caused, and tell him she really did (or does) love him. But I get it - it wouldn’t be the same without Eileen Davidson. Still, how incredible would it be if Eileen came back for a few episodes and we got some classic flashbacks? And Sami. Where is Sami?! A goodbye scene between her and John felt essential - with her finally thanking him, and apologizing for all the heartache between them. So much history there. Really hoping we’ll see all of John’s kids and grandkids at his memorial - and also Maggie and Julie. Marlena could really use the support of those who’ve known her the longest.
