@Vee Thanks. Clearly I only ever remembered that she dated a football player. I agree this story is weaker. Part of the issue is I think Trina outgrew this type of storyline through her pairing with Spencer and crossing swords with Cassadines. I'm not saying she should be thrown into major drama and trauma, but being on a B or C-level in this freewheeling college football story is a waste.

I feel like the show still is mostly using Sasha in some semblance of support (with Cody today, worrying for Michael, etc.), although if we are heading towards her being Jason's love interest (I hope not) that would change. It would be more interesting to me if all of his losses led him to start becoming too fixated on her pregnancy only to pull back and realize he is repeating the old habits that led Michael to where he is now.

Losing a solid friendship for a measuring contest would definitely be a bad idea. The show's going to need to work to rebuild Lulu/Dante and throwing Cody in won't do that.

I didn't even realize until yesterday they were hinting at Martin/Tracy. I knew they'd never do Tracy/Cody but it would interest me much more. Even if MEK is no longer talking like Foghorn Leghorn, I still just see him slumming through a non-part.

I think MEK was much more energized (and sexy) when he had the beard and the accent. Without them he's just a variation on Sad Later Years Tad to me. I miss them, but I still don't want him with Tracy. At all. It's another round of this regime's usual Slot A into Tab B 'romance' for veterans which also brought us Robert and Diane, or Maxie and Austin which I had to have explained in detail to prove it somehow actually happened (mostly mercifully offscreen).

I do think Dominic and Alexa have major chemistry. Their clashing scenes in Prague and back at the Qs prove that, and she's nowhere near as hard as Julie Berman so it plays more fun. But I am fine with them waiting it out. I would not put Cody and Sasha back together unless it's time to cut costs and tighten belts to lose both, in which case I would have it turn out Holly lied yet again because of some bad guy she fúcked, and then you could write them out happily ever after. I would at least give Sasha a HEA with someone, as boring as I find her in a lead role. I can understand some of the appeal.

He definitely comes off like one.

I keep forgetting Diane and Robert were a long-term pairing. She never seemed like his type...but like you said it doesn't matter to the show.

I think MEK looked nice with the beard. I almost wish they'd just brought him in as Tad as that's probably who we are going to think of anyway. I wonder if I'd be more involved if not for the convoluted story of being Laura's brother. I appreciated that they had Lulu say Laura might be fond of him but she's not, as that's the logical reaction. She was saying this because of Valentin but I just take it as - GTFO insta-uncle.

(I don't know how Lucky reacted to him - have they interacted?)

I guess I should try to track down the scenes of Lesley being tormented over her past by Cyrus, as I do want to see what may be Denise Alexander's last time as Lesley, but it doesn't sound very good.

I don't know why they didn't just bring in some Vinings we never heard of if they wanted to give Laura new family.

I don't mind Laura having a brother, but it's always seemed like an odd relationship and it's never been mined in the right ways for me. They say the names (Gordon Grey, etc.) but it feels very awkward. Martin keeps calling her 'sister' and I don't believe it because I don't feel the material digs deep enough.

I did watch some of the stuff with Lesley and just found it silly. Martin and Cyrus howling at each other about how Cyrus backed over their dad in the driveway with the family car, and old wizened Cyrus wailing that it was an accident - I am not making this up. I could not care less. That's this regime's weird schizophrenic approach to pathos with their arch-villains, which I am sure they will repeat with Sidwell soon (probably by making him Natalia's ex and father to her kids).

    • Did I ever say that? I actually don't want to, but I have no problem doing so when I feel it's truly warranted. Case in point. I'll be more respectful about how you're involving yourself in these kind of discussions when you consider doing the same. Believe me when I tell you the way you attempt to dress up this attitude has placated no one, and this is not a minority forum opinion. It is easy enough, for example, to simply say that "I think many of us have underrated JFP's skills as a woman producer in an overly misogynistic industry". It's a lot easier than spending paragraph after paragraph amusedly shaking one's head while talking down to the clueless proles of SON about their blinkered, reductive opinions. And yes, I am saying that many of us have spoken up crediting Phelps for the skills she obviously has as a technical whiz and line producer. There's nothing out of turn about acknowledging that many posters know where she excelled. Or talking about where she clearly (for many of us) didn't. You don't have to agree, but you could try listening to someone other than yourself.
    • It’s a recurring tension in Daytime: the willingness to take risks can fuel a show's longevity, but the actresses themselves often bear the long-term consequences of audience backlash.
    • I pray Eva never lets Dana back into her life, because she deserves better. Dana isn't a mother, nor is she a parent.
    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol
