Mandi Line, The Young and the Restless

Best known for her design work on such shows as “Pretty Little Liars,” “Death and Other Details” and “The Bold Type,” the Costume Designer’s Guild Award and CAFTCAD (Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design) award-nominated Mandi Line is heading to “The Young and the Restless” as the show’s new costume designer.

Viewers can look expect to see what Line has in store for the people of Genoa City beginning with the Monday, November 18 episode of the CBS daytime drama series.

“There was one world in 30 years of my career I hadn’t conquered, and that was soaps! When I got the call I thought, ‘Yep! This is where I’m meant to be,’” Line said in a statement. “After my first fitting with Melody Thomas Scott [Nikki Newman] I knew I was home, feeling excited and grateful to bring what I do best to Genoa City.”

In an Instagram post, LIne said, To all those that came before me and worked very hard… I’m grateful to step into all the hard working history that has come before me.”

“Every designer on this historical long running show has made their mark and was there for their time and served a beautiful purpose,” continued Line. “I’m in awe of all of those who have been part of this show.”

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Line began her career designing music videos, red carpet appearances, and independent films, working with such stars as Kirsten Dunst, Mandy Moore, Lucy Hale, and such rock groups as Linkin Park and Korn, before transitioning to television as head costume designer for the ABC Family series “Greek.”

During her six-season run on the series “Pretty Little Liars,” Line worked with the brand Aéropostale to launch the “Pretty Little Liars” apparel collection. Her other television credits include Showtime’s “Shameless,” The CW’s “Charmed,” FOX’s “BH90210,” Lifetime’s “Unreal” (Pilot), and the Netflix series “Travelers.”

Among films, Line has designed for over 26 productions, and her work has been featured in periodicals such as Cosmopolitan, Us Weekly, The New York Times Style Section, InStyle, and OK Magazine. In March 2020, Line created and produced the popular Instagram Live show and podcast, “Convos with Costume Designers, ” featuring over 50 interviews with Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning costume designers.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays on CBS. Stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+.

So, according to her, not [all] of her costumes have begun to air. Some of the old costume designer is still airing, as of 11/21. According to her, her full looks should begin airing sometime around Thanksgiving. The only look she's done was Lucy's red jacket look.

She's also shown, via Instagram, that she is purging a lot of the costumings from the past in an re-organization of the "closet". It's quite amazing the work she's done/is doing.

    • Yes!!! Mona feels  like one of my aunts, love the way she carries herself. Loved seeing Eva pop-up at the gambling place.  Monday was all around good soap. Can't remember the last time an entire episode held my interest.  Loving the fallout and reverberations from Ted and Shea-Butter Sheila's affair

. Tricia Mann Grant is 90s early 2000s quality FINE. As nice as it would've been to see Anita embrace Eva, I'm glad she didn't because we can squeeze a lot more years of conflict out of Eva, Leslie and the Duprees.   Lauren & Sheila, Viki & Dorian, Katherine & Jill all gave us good conflict for decades. Hopefully this follows suit. I understand the concern. Right now there's an issue of quality of black representation on shows more so than quantity of black shows. I'd like to see more predominantly black sci-fi, legal, political, supernatural or medical dramas over the typical who is sleeping with who. However, this is a soap, and this is what happens on soaps. White soap characters do these things all the time, but have the luxury of being seen as individuals, not representations of their entire race. Husbands/fathers like Todd Manning, Victor Newman and Asa Buchanan cheat, lie and swindle all the time but aren't seen as a commentary on white men. Black characters like Ted and New Dollar Bill should be able to do the same.
    • And that area of the DMV has a high-end glamorous casino the MGM National Harbor.
    • Even under the new writers, Jamey episodes are the shortest and the weakest A lot of people were unnecessarily clowny and bitchy today. There was a lot of fluff and filler too. And the dialogue was a little… ehhh as well. But welcome back, Kevin! It’s been a long time lol his return still seems really random but I don’t mind it. Philip’s actions make sense to me based on everything that’s happened to him lately and it could possibly set up more tension between him and Xander/Alex. And I wouldn’t mind seeing him and Kevin team up. I thought the actor did a good job too. Too bad that they couldn’t get Robert Benvenisti back though. I didn’t realize it in 2001 but he was hot

And, we got the word that Arianna wants to come home. I’m looking forward to that, and seeing her relationships with Gabi, Marlena, etc. on display and I hope that

As for Rachel’s birthday party… was Days hinting at something that we’ve been speculating about since EJ was shot?

    • Portugal qualifying was the only shocker. I'm really happy for Iceland. IMO, the automatic finalists – Spain, Switzerland and Italy – had the best performances. I love the studio version of Azerbaijan, but on stage, it was a disaster.
