Yep that was Jack Smith. At first it seemed they were going to do a throwback nostalgic coupling as of course both Paul and Christine were taking a break once they finally addressed the rape, we had scenes with Paul & Lauren and then Danny and Christine for like Thanksgiving or Christmas that year, but then of course the show quickly paired Lauren with Michael due to her involvement in Kevin’s story and Danny was destroyed to curry favor to both Paul and Phyllis.

Oddly I was fine with it at the time,  mainly because of Danny’s massive sanctimonious behavior, and because the seeds had been sown for his downfall back in late 97-98 when Danny became obsessed Christine himself and plotted against Paul.

Let’s be real, Danny was ruined all the way back in 1994 when he first became involved with Phyllis.

I love it, too, Victor. I love it, too.

That Kyle vs Diane that morphed into Diane vs Jack was good and vicious. And everyone brought their A game. Team Diane on that btw. What was the point of bringing Susan Walters back and not use her...now Abbott Matriarch or not? She's been on FIRE. As has PB. But I hope the last part of this scene is the two of them working to get Kyle back in the fold.

I forgot to mention it...but I do believe MS has been bringing it this week and looking hot, too. Her losing Lily's job. Her worrying about Daniel. Her in Mama mode.

And I did like seeing this next turn in the Sharon storyline from the Daniel side of it. And the complication of Chance being the cop in charge of it makes that more messy for his relationship with Summer...which I've been very glad to see get some focus due to Sharon.

I used to be hardcore Alex Donnelley fan and never fully accepted SW in her first stint, but I really think she’s stepped up in this stint and is one of the more watchable actors on this show when the writing gives her a chance.

Because, she isn't coasting on the material, nor over-acting it (*cough*Stafford*cough*). She's actually attempting to enhance the garbage she's handled to sell.

The Phyllis flashback episode was really an example of how much Stafford’s ego, laziness, and ticks really overcame her over the years. She still had her ticks back in the 90’s to be totally honest, but there used to be a genuine sincerity there that hasn’t existed since like 2005.

I stand by Stafford doing her best work in 2000-2004. She really seemed to try back then to make Phyllis a complete character and give her acting some nuance.

It has continued to baffle me that Sharon Newman was the character to be given bi-polar disorder, when realistically, based on the work of Michelle Stafford, Phyllis should have been the bi-polar character.

Phyllis’s hypocrisy and being a nutcase herself makes her even more unsympathetic when she makes comments about the mental stability of other characters like Sharon and Diane. Like Carly on GH, we’re just supposed to “accept” it because this character is somehow deemed as a “chosen one” by TPTB.

Even with crap, ruinous writing, I still somehow have a soft spot for Sharon that I can no longer have with Phyllis. I totally think that’s because of the acting…

Same. When I first saw episodes of Y&R and kept track going up, I remember Alex Donnelley as Diane and her fights with MTS Nikki were legendary. So I could never get behind SW in her first stint.

But decades later (and many acting jobs later), SW came back, and I LOVED that she was channeling a LOT of AD's Diane when Diane made it back to Genoa City after being revealed to be alive. And no more obvious than her first scenes with MTS Nikki...I was in awe. You would think she had been possessed by AD because she had the body language, the dialogue, and inflictions in her voice down. And I've been liking her ever since.

And I do like that for the most part, her return has been progressively organic and she has been making it her own version of Diane. Then this mess with Kyle started. Ugh. But I'm happy that she is being used because she had become background most of this year.

She definitely has become oh so watchable and consistently, too. Outside of EB, I don't think I've been invested completely in someone as soon as they come on screen when I'm watching other than Eileen Davidson.

Stafford’s acting is particularly horrible today. I can’t with the yelling and arms flaring every few seconds.

Just today, though?!

Almost every day, but today is a specific showcase of how lazy she is and how she defaults to bad acting habits and ticks.

I can't wait to see the redesign.

It feels like the redesign and 13K episode both align with Ed Scott’s return, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one overseeing it with the production and set designers.

Except, both were known of prior to the announcement of Scott's return...

🤣
