Multiple sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that preliminary discussions are underway at Lifetime to launch a TV-movie franchise featuring legacy characters from the classic Pine Valley-set daytime drama, which ran on ABC from 1975 to 2011 before being briefly resurrected as a web series in 2013. An insider cautions that the talks are in the early stages, with one source describing the conversations as “exploratory.”

If this isn't tied to Ripa and Consuelos I might be more likely to watch, although I wish Agnes Nixon were here to navigate.

I mainly hope, if this happens, they can get Susan Lucci as this would be the perfect format to finish Erica's story.

If only P&G gave a damn about doing anything with their soaps as this could be a good format for them too.

I've been saying for a while they should do this with the old soaps. Cheap to produce, built in audience, endless amount of actors and storylines to draw upon and they can create a new generation... but without the pressure of having to create a series and keep the ratings up. People who like these movies but aren't familiar with the soaps would probably still watch since they'd be standalone.

I'm surprised Michael Damian didn't think of it.

Oh my.

The Lifetime setup also already allows for them to plumb the depths of soap stars who already work there, lol.

I can't see this getting SMG like the planned Pine Valley primetime project I was very skeptical about (though who knows, has Sarah done Lifetime?) but I would be surprised if they didn't get just about anyone they want, starting with Susan.

I see it like the old novelizations but set in a contemporary environment (with cameos from original stars).  Like the story of Chuck and Donna (not my first choice, but it was fairly self-contained).  You could re-tell their entire story, update the dialogue and the setting, and make it into a two-hour movie.

I like the nostalgic appeal of re-telling the most memorable plots, rather than updating old characters.

I think those stories worked because of the people who made them at the time they were made. There's a reason why the later attempts to recreate Tara and Phil (or even Cliff and Nina and Jenny and Greg) failed.

Definitely. What could be...and won't.

If these work out, I could eventually see her doing one.

I could see Sarah potentially doing one for AMC and her friends, though her career still isn't at a place of needing it. The rest of the cast, sure. Susan doesn't need to do it but I am sure she is #1.

And yes, this would be ideal for GL or ATWT. I'd still prefer AMC be back serialized but this is not a bad play.

    • First, Martin vs Ted. Now Kat vs Ted.
    • Team Silk Press Sheila!  I hope she topples the mighty Duprees because that family has it coming. The spoilers that were posted last week for today's episode had Ashley/Derek mentioned, but as we saw, they weren't featured at all.  Was that part of the spoiler a mistake, or did the show edit them out.    Nice to see a bit of Vanessa/Doug.. and I'm fascinated by Vanessa's perspective in regards to Dani/Bill's marriage vs Nicole/Ted's marriage. While this was a good episode, it does highlight that the show is lacking non-Dupree related characters.
    • Cry me a river! lol. Oh, Silk-Press.     Awwww no good night for Dani and Andre.    Uh oh. They are at the house. It's dark and Mona did let everyone off for the night...
    • I just hate this dress. Bottom picture.
    • I do wonder if Bill will suffer any consequences from his part in all of this.   Ambyr is such a star. I love it when actors react in the background.    Kat, this ain't about you!   Go 'head, Martin vs Ted.

    • "On a shallow note" Martin gets all the booty from his Daddy, Ted is just as stacked as his son, LOL! I had to say it.
    • Lol! If Kat is going to do one thing, it's going to be give shade.   And of course, the Duprees would get into formation and team up. Sadly, I don't think they have anything on Silk Press Sheila.    Poor Nicole.   But loving it. I know I'm invested besides I'm seriously side-eying Vanessa/Doug cuz I want to get to the meat. And I love that every single beat is getting played.    Oooo Nosy Nurse!!!   OOOOHHHH so Silk Press Sheila and Nicole were preggers at the same time. And HA!!! The lawyer WAS Bill!  The acting is superb. Silk Press Sheila even toyed with Martin a little bit.   Ooooomg! Eva revealed.   Wait! Is it food posioning for Vanessa or is she with child?
    • Well, if you add that one caveat, oddly, it disqualifies Renee. Because she is one person who was both the planner (if you will) and also the "evil" revealer. Weird but that is THE difference.  And it's the only difference. But, sure, I think those words make it unique. THE REVEALER CONVINCES HER TARGET TO HOST THE EVENT. Right?  Well, if we nitpick The Revealer used her secret agent to convince their target to do this shindig. Yes. That's it. Because Leslie/Sheila/Sherry/Dana/Leslie/Mom didn't do it by herself. She HAD to have Eva doing her part.  Okay, run with that.  And, why not discuss it here? It's topical.
