Funny enough, I looked up the actor playing Aaron Greene and he's 22.

But older actors playing teens is nothing new in soaps.  Laurence Lau was 27 when he played 18 year old Greg Nelson on AMC, and Jay Kenneth Johnson was 22 when he started as Philip.

So, again, for me, the age is not the issue as much as the acting and the writing.  I hope they develop Tate more and give him more established internal turmoil.

Much like with Johnny and Chanel, if you took the time to tell me that the source of Johnny's insecurity is that he doesn't want as many failed relationships as his mother.  I'd be willing to put up with a lot more BS.

I just need those scenes where a character expresses some self-awareness based on their family.  Otherwise, having historic characters in name only is pointless.

@AbcNbc247The craziest recent example of the shift from scab to current staff was Johnny worrying about a curse on married relationships in the Dimera's, that has never been mentioned again.  And EJ talking about not wanting a grandson with congenital disorders within the lineage, during Chanel's pregnancy.  And then doing a total about face, and saying he didn't mean it when she lost the baby.

I bet having to sit through two full days of Body&Soul (with no FF) that the time capsule will play into the F-Abby story.  Much like Hope's puzzle box when she came back from the dead with amnesia.  RonC loves a callback, and characters not discussing a mcguffin doesn't mean it has been forgotten.

It's so funny that you mention LL because he's totally who nuTate reminds me of.

I agree with those who say he's miscast. I think the first Tate's youthful earnestness was perfect for the role, I stood in his corner and felt that Holly didn't deserve him at all. Now I just don't care.

I'm reminded of another glaring recast, Casey Diedrich to Billy Flynn. I just did not buy that they were the same person. But I've been able to accept that this is who Chad is now, even if it goes against every initial instinct of the character. Chad has been curiously aged and matured by BF, I don't see CD as the father of two who grieves a lost wife and who so effortlessly does not suffer Leo.

My argument would be that Tate 1.0 was written as a bratty, insolent teen who was constantly arguing with his parents.  But, that actor was too earnest for that dialogue.  And unfortunately Tate 2.0 has been written as a kinder, gentler guy, when in fact, post-prison, he should be angrier than ever.

I keep thinking back to when Kristen Alfonso took over as Hope.  The prior Hope was immature and bratty.  But, Kristen brought more sophistication to the role.  So Hope developed into a daddy's girl, who was a bit of a rebel, but never a mean girl, just for the sake of being naughty.

I hope that the role of Tate becomes more tailored to the actor, because he shows some promise, and he doesn't seem to be going anywhere, any time soon.

Just what we needed after a weekend of terrible news, a full Body&Soul day

All the meta-jokes did absolutely nothing except make me roll my eyes. Neither did messy Johnny and Chanel because they deserve better than this. I’m glad that this (possibly) was the thing that got Ron fired and that it only has like 3 fans across the entire Soap Universe. That’s exactly what it deserves.

And yeah, Hattie needs to be killed off.

Bonnie still having a subscription to Soap Opera Digest shows how long ago this was written.

Btw, does the thumbnail for today’s episode show a major spoiler for everyone else as well?

Me too.  This Body & Soul stuff is rough.  I don't even mind it existing.  I just don't need full episodes about this nonsense.   Both Hattie and Bonnie are such useless characters that should have been ditched long ago.  Honestly, if one day JE walks into a room and everyone just starts calling her Adrienne again and we just pretend Bonnie never existed I wouldn't even question it.

Well, that would be a twist lol.....

    • And her evolution was so subtly done. There was nothing like the depraved shows later on, like Game of Thrones, where they said a woman needed to be raped in order to find empowerment. The layers of Laura were what got me hooked on Knots, somewhere in the season 3 repeats. And I agree that her becoming a therapist would have made sense - look at how much her trauma over her mother drove her decisions early on.
    • I think that the problem with Laura was that she had grown to love herself and saw her value in both herself, her career, and her marriage.  She had this inner strength and confidence that Lynn/Bernard didn't know how to harness/write for because they were more interested in generating conflict amongst emotionally immature people. Karen/Mac and Gary/Val were all immature/stubborn to a fault even though they all had grown/evolved.  So the Latham's could key into their essence/history to generate the standard soap opera tropes and stories for them. Even the season 8 conflict with Laura's pregnancy and Greg not being cool with it didn't diminish Laura's fire and strength.  You saw how she was able to move on and live her life as a single mother because she'd already done that after Richard took off.   I saw her response to Greg's kissing Paige as 'that's my husband and I can't change him.. but once I find something better, I'll toss himself'.  She wasn't emotionally tied to him nor his money.. and I think that was partly why she was such a unique and interesting character in the nighttime soap world in the 80s.
    •   They actually had great chemistry to as friends in the scene I felt. A shame it was the first onscreen interaction. Looks better than Bill/Hayley’s house. I absolutely loved that! I feel the exact same way. This is just facts. Those scenes today between them were electric.
    • If The Real Housewives of Dubai is on hiatus/pause (a.k.a. done), then we need a way for Caroline Stanbury to come back to Ladies of London.
    • I hate quick snip scenes.  Such a tired hold-over from the 1980s.  And that nonsense does not belong on BTG.  Bring back the long scenes.
    • Eva packing, thinking about how good the Richardson's house smells.

    • In light of yesterday's news...I figured it was okay to bump this up. And probably do a rewatch.

    • I don't really read spoilers, but Perry Shen seems to come and go so even if this is an "exit" it's probably not permanent.
