DAYS: July 2024 Discussion Thread

I thought the same thing. If I remember correctly, several posters used to call him "The Writer" because of that, back in the day.

The Kate-Abe soap is something that has the possibility to be interesting. But Ron does not enjoy writing for Days, I don't expect anything interesting to come out of it.

Michael Easton returns as Tanner. He is a doctor now. Eventually we find out that he has used many different names in different cities. He is Stefano and Laura's son! No wait, he is Doug and Susan's son! Susan returns played by an Asian actress! Now he wants to kill John. Wait, he is John's brother! He sleeps with Ava, Nicole, Chloe. They all have his babies.
He is murdered. He has an evil twin. Wait, the twin is th nice one. He ends up in prison.
Yep, I could see him returning to Days.

What a great opening scene

I really miss the annual 4th of July picnic though.

Xander and Sarah were really sweet today, but I’m looking forward to when their lives get blown to hell again lol

The Alex/Justin scenes were good too. I’m glad that Days is taking the route of having Alex be a dick to Justin. It’s just seems natural considering the situation that they’re in. We really needed to see more of that. Plus, their scenes seemed very balanced out and not just blatantly pro-Alex. Can you imagine what those scenes would have been like if they were written two years ago lol I just hope that Justin gets the chance to knock his ass out before they find out the truth.

Tate’s plan is kind of stupid though. I mean, what kind of camp doesn’t allow camper’s parents to visit them? There’s still a lot of holes in the plan, especially considering Aaron’s part in it. And I really think Days is missing an opportunity to cause problems for Tate/Holly by not having Tate be upset and angry about the whole Brady/Theresa/Alex mess. I wonder who was watching them at the end though. And even though she’s Tate’s sister, Kristen’s little demon spawn is not necessary in their storyline.

Btw, why was Aaron wearing one of Leo’s shirts?

And you know that if Ron was writing it, those different names would be Caleb from Port Charles and John from Llanview

Both Chanel/Johnny and even Stefan and Gabi are interracial couplings as well.  If by "adult" you mean boring I can agree that Jada/Rafe fit the bill.

The show needs to find someone new for Stephanie.  Shelly Hennig's Stephanie had a pretty rich romantic history that the show could mine instead of creating a past love we never saw.

They could always bring back Jeremy. Or I wouldn't even mind her being reunited with Chad, for a little while anyway.

Plus, now that Lucas is gone, Jeremy could be the one who has the teenage son to mix it up with Tate and Holly

Although Jeremy would be interesting for the Abby storyline, I wonder what his age would be in relation to his Aunt Jennifer?  Like, how much older is he than Gwen (storywise)?  I know age is relative in Salem.  But, it would be intriguing to think about is he in the Eric/Brady generation of characters, or does he remain in the slightly younger Stephanie and Chad grouping?

Oy, I hope I haven't opened a Pandora's Box, and now we're going to get three pages of snark about Michael Easton being cast as Jeremy

I believe Jeremy was the same or very close in age to Stephanie.  He was part of the Stephanie, Abby, Chelsea crowd.  I would assume he would stay in that age range.  I can't remember when the show said Gwen was born, but he wouldn't be much older than her if at all.  I wouldn't bump him up in age.

ME would be waaaaaaaaaaay too old for Jeremy.  He has a better chance at getting cast as Mike lol.

They could very plausibly cast Jeremy as 35-ish. They have him and Nathan both sitting out there as fairly blank-slate Hortons who have history with Stephanie, too. Actually kind of surprised they didn't just cast Blake as one of them and do a bunch of, "You remind me of your cousin Nick!" schtick.

Elia and Abigail had zoom event last weekend and Blake wasn't even mentioned so he probably will be gone from the show

For Abigail as Stephanie they need to do something for her that doesn't involve romantic relationships because that is all they have written for her character she went from Alex to Chad to Everett/Bobby and that is the biggest weakness of her character currently

They need to do More with Stephanie besides just having every guy with her almost every year since she has been back  and for Stephanie they make it worse by having her propping the Male characters she has been with and Abigail Klein I think her strongest stuff as Stephanie has been the scenes between Stephanie and Jada

I mean, it is a quandary why a newspaper needs a PR agent? I get an ad agency, but putting a positive spin on things seems like something a paper would want to avoid.

Stephanie has two big clients, The Spectator, and Titan, but she also seems to have a lot of free time.

    • Holy sh.it. THAT was a damn soap opera. I’m at a loss for words for how good that was.

    • Same here.  Anyone who voluntarily left Margo's penthouse set (except to go overseas or to Heaven) was immediately on my blacklist.  lol.

    • The penthouse was my favorite set... and it changed hands from Margo to Draper/April to Miles/Nicole then to just Miles... before he opted to give that beautiful place for that drab house with the even more drab Beth.  That was a jump the shark moment for me LOL
    • The storyline April and Draper are involved in during the summer/autumn of 1979 seems fairly "benign" but soon turns very serious.  April has a VERY intrusive, wealthy mother (Margo Huntington Dorn).  Margo knows that April and Draper (who've recently had a miscarriage and are theoretically never going to be able to conceive another baby) want to buy a house.  Margo hoodwinks them into buying a house they can't afford.  The house is listed at $100,000 (about $400,000 in today's dollars).  Margo pays the first $35,000 and leads Draper to believe the asking price of the house is $65,000 instead of $100,000.  If Draper finds out his meddling mother-in-law paid 1/3 of the cost of the home and tricked him, he'll be mad as hell.   Meanwhile, Draper has received a job offer from a prestigious New York law firm.  Margo pulls some strings and has the senior partner in the firm rescind the offer, to keep April in Monticello.  If Draper finds out about THAT, he'll be even angrier with Margo than he will be about the house trickery.  All of that is "bubbling under the surface" in the fall of 1979 but will be the next major story, as everything begins to spiral out of control.   Yep, you've got the Karrs and their very basic middle-class house, the Victorian-themed place where Miles and Nicole live, April and Draper's old craftsman house with the exposed beams, the Madisons & their Mission revival house, and Margo with her 1970s-chic penthouse.  Each of the sets is completely different.  And their budget was like zero, lol.
    • It felt weird and out of place.  I get it. While I agree with those on here that say he's gotten better, it's still really bad. I'm not seeing the "good" acting some see...but I'll give him a B for being better than when he first started. There's potential. I'll leave it at that.
    • It's like watching paint dry at a slow-ass pace. It's bad acting. Entirely. Excellent? With Claybon? Never. Ever.
