I’m up to May 04, 1999.
*As of May 3, Jennifer Roszell (Eleni) is no longer in the ending credits as a contract character. I’m still waiting for them to resolve Frank/Eleni’s relationship since Annie’s trial!
Reva continues to plan her wedding, all while wearing this new ring. Josh sees the ring and asks about it, and Reva says she doesn’t know why, but the ring worries her a lot. Josh then surprises her with a letter from her mother Sarah that arrived at Lewis Oil, that must have been lost in the Italian mail for a couple years before she died. It was a sweet letter telling her to be with Josh and they tear up over it.
Beth is trying to find more information out from Susan about her adopted mother so she can be more like her in hopes to further attract Jim (dumb). Beth later gushes to Lillian about really enjoying Jim’s company. Meanwhile, Jim and Matt meet to discuss Lewis Oil business, but the subject of Beth comes up. Matt assures him that he and Beth were there for each other when they were going through hard times, but they never crossed the line (had sex), and Matt wishes Jim all the luck with Beth. Beth then shows up and Matt leaves, saying he needs to help Nola unload at Company (only adding this note because it’s the first we’ve heard Nola’s name since she just disappeared, and Company for that matter!).
Well, Buzz and Selena are at Company waiting for an order and discuss how long it’s taking and Buzz makes a comment that Nola is selling Company (wow!). Jesse stops by and gives Selena an ultimatum, either she tells Drew the truth about her being her mother or he does, because he can’t start a relationship with Drew by keeping a secret. Selena caves and says she’ll tell Drew later that night at family dinner.
Harley has agreed to let Susan have her birthday party at Millennium (make that makes sense), but she still refuses to let Max come, saying he’s 15 and she’s only about to be 13 and is too old for her. Susan of course is upset. She’s later helping out at the diner and Max comes in. Trying to impress him and show that she’s not just a little girl, she offers to cook him dinner later after Buzz closes the diner. She lies to Buzz and says Harley is picking her up, so after Buzz closes the diner, she and Max sneak into the kitchen. He’s a bit of a jerk to her and then offers her a cigarette, which she scoffs at. He accidentally starts a fire with the match and they get themselves locked inside the burning kitchen. As they’re screaming, Cassie walks by and smells smoke and realizes the diner is on fire. Susan passes out and Max continues to try and get them out. Cassie enters from the back and notices Max/Susan and is able to open the kitchen door to get them out. Max/Susan are able to exit the diner, but Cassie passes out and remains in danger.
Buzz/Selena head to family dinner, which Drew is so excited for especially because she’s been getting closer to Max and it feels like she’s finally in a family. While there, Selena and Jesse are hesitant and reluctant to tell Drew because she’s so happy, but Buzz tries to force it. Drew ends up giving Selena a gift of a pin with two halves, with one half that can be given to Selena’s daughter when she finds her. Selena asks to put it on her to see how it looks, but they’re interrupted when Buzz gets a call about the diner being on fire! They arrive at the diner and find Susan/Max, which confuses Buzz because she was supposed to be with Harley. Susan screams out that Cassie is still inside, so Buzz runs inside to save her, and Selena starts crying out over major concern for Buzz. Jim and Beth show up and Susan lies by saying she’s not sure how the fire started. Buzz then carries Cassie out and Jim runs to her and holds her, telling her she saved his daughter’s life, which makes Beth jealous (oh brother). Buzz cries out in anger and sadness over losing the diner, saying there were 4 generations of blood, sweat, tears and memories there. Frank finally shows up and they ponder why this happened, and Buzz says it’s the universe telling him he needs a change in life. Harley/Phillip then show up and Susan finally admits the truth about being there after-hours with Max, and Harley is pissed. Susan acts out and says she never should have come to SF in the first place. Meanwhile, Jesse isn’t convinced by Max that it was an accident. Buzz/Harley/Frank reminisce about all their memories at the diner, to include talking about Nadine. It’s odd they didn’t include Eleni here. Harley then overhears Max and Susan talking about what really happened with the cigarette and starting the fire and flips out. Frank roughs Max up a bit and takes him to the police station, which upsets Drew because she can’t believe Max would do that. *RIP diner - I'm kind of shocked they did this. So many fires destroy 5th street!
Michelle and Bill finally meet up at Company and Michelle apologizes for shutting him out over the last few months during the Danny situation. She realizes he’s been beaten up and is now involved with Pilar, and she warns him to stay away from the Santos family. But he pries and realizes she still has a thing for Danny and he encourages her to go see him. At the same time, Pilar is trying to convince Danny to go back to Michelle because she knows he still has feelings for her. Pilar schemes and is able to get Michelle and Danny in the same room and Michelle clearly enjoys seeing him in his tank-top. Danny then tells Michelle that he’s leaving town for good and moving out West to help his uncle Frederico with the business. Michelle is taken aback, but says it’ll be best for him and she’ll be focusing more on her medical school studies. They both flashback to good times together, but Michelle then gives her wedding ring back and says goodbye. That night, Michelle tells Rick what happened and he says he’s happy that he can go to bed at night not worrying about whether he’ll wake up and she’s in a morgue because of the Santos family. Meanwhile, Danny has a frosty goodbye with Carmen before he leaves town, telling her he’s dead to her and he’ll always be his father’s son, not hers. Carmen breaks down crying as he leaves. He later calls her while driving to the airport and reminds her of one more thing, that he can still bring the entire family down if she goes after Michelle. She says she understands and will stay far away from Michelle, but she accidentally doesn’t hang the phone up. She tells Dietz that in order to protect her son, she has to get rid of Michelle, which Danny overhears on the phone. Danny turns his car around to try and stop her, but ends up crashing his car! Meanwhile, Carmen calls Michelle and says Danny wants to see her one last time before he leaves, so she should come by their mansion. Michelle decides to go and arrives, but Danny isn’t there and she’s concerned. Danny is hurt in the car, but he’s able to get a phone call out to get help sent to the Santos home before he passes out. Carmen and Michelle trade barbs, with Michelle telling her she isn’t scared of her, and Carmen then telling Dietz to move forward with their ‘plan’, but David (now as a cop) rushes in and tells them about Danny’s crash and his call. We then see Danny wheeled into the hospital and Rick/Lillian tend to him. Carmen and Michelle get to the hospital and Michelle claims she’s Danny’s next of kin since they’re still technically married, which lights Carmen up. Danny wakes up and doesn’t remember what happened, but Michelle is convinced he was coming back for her for a reason. Carmen then offers Michelle a deal - walk away from Danny now and she’ll give up her vendetta against her and she and her family will be safe. Michelle says Danny needs her, so she walks away from Carmen and goes to Danny, effectively saying no to her deal.
Fletcher visits Holly again, who is sleeping. He tells her he’ll make everything right and be there for her. After he leaves, we see that Holly heard everything while pretending to be asleep and admits to herself that she never really saw the two of them as endgame. She realizes he’s making sacrifices and putting a lot of blame on himself, so she vows to herself that she won’t let him do that anymore.
