As the story goes, Cyndi Lauper came up with the title "Time After Time" while scrolling through TV Guide (the movie was making its network premiere). Could Glenn Frey* have had a similar experience with "The Heat Is On"? I'm certain the Dynasty ad dates from late 1983-early 1984.

*Or rather, the song's actual writers, Harold Faltermeyer & Keith Forsey.

It's funny to me that they label these as: Actress name "Character name" Soap, as if the figure depicts the actress in her personal life. Although I don't really picture Marlena in that polka-dot dress either.

@Alan That's neat stuff. Thanks. I swear they used the same face for Ali Sweeney and Erika Slezak.

They also seem to have lightened the skin of Debbi Morgan and REG (not sure what's going on with REG's neck and head either).

They just used a Hillary Swank doll for Kelly Monaco.

The best is probably Victoria Wyndham, maybe because she would have kicked their ass otherwise.

Sandy Dvore will always be the Gold Standard for Illustrations.  His work was so minimal, and yet captures the entire essence of the subject.  Here from his Instagram is his original sketch of Eric Braden.  According to the caption, he did all the original sketches in the 1970s, and then redrew them in the 1980s

My father used to buy his suits at Sy Devore, an old Hollywood men's store.  And as I kid, I thought they were the same person, because the store was filled with sketches of men's Hollywood costumes from the golden age.

    • Y&R: 10% good, 90% garbage time BtG: 90% good, 10% garbage time
    • Valid question. Decades ago I didn't understand how this works, but then I learned.  But I never saw her as a romantic lead anyhow. I still dislike rapist Chelsea on Y&R.  And that show pairing her with her victim was just awful.
    • Oh yes I tuned back in once Ron was gone and have been enjoying what I’ve been seeing so far. This upcoming week is probably going to have me bawling though! As far Y&R I may a little harsh haha but the month started off with Summer’s abrupt departure (You go AL!!!) and it’s been downhill ever since. The one bright spot has been MM’s return along with Traci and Ashley returning to reflect, otherwise I felt the month as a whole was cumbersome to get through, especially since there wasn’t any momentum when there should have been.
    • from her nytime obit: ”Ms. Mahaffey had worked steadily over the past five decades, starting out on the NBC daytime soap opera, “The Doctors,” for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in 1980.”
    • Do people have the same problem with Sami and Kristen being rapists who have been married several times? I don't often deal in moral equivalencies, because we would obviously need to consider their relative capacity to overpower a man's ability to consent.  But, their motives were similar to EJ's. Honestly just wondering since the EJ thing has never been an issue for me.

But it just seem like a pretty good one from what I've seen so far on the majority of the soaps. I'm just sorry that I'm so behind. lol.    I'm loving the DAYS praise since I'm still approaching mid-May. I am liking the new writers so far.    That said...oooooo you gave Y&R an F? I admit...I've not been liking it much either, but I am still surprised. Thank you!!! I only liked Ejabby for the sole purpose of breaking and freeing Sami from her rapist. They had Chem out the a@@ and it was messy fun until they tried to make it more then it needed to be. KM Abigail was more like MA Jack so her being a messy smug thot wasn't much of a stretch. I didn't really take to her Abigail until the Ben/Chad affair and the Cabin abs is a serial killer story for the 50th.
    • 5-27   UGH. SHUT UP, RIDGE!!!   So darn entitled, and I don't even care if he's right. Steffy and Hope FINALLY getting along does look suspect. But he's the last person to be sitting here and having an issue.   And I'm a sucker for it, but awwww. Carter and Hope got engaged.   Cute Liam/Finn moment.
    • @Taoboi I was going to do one a few days ago. I'm glad you started the thread. Bold: F BTG: B- Days: A- GH: A- YR: I don't watch it.
