Nothing happened. It wasn't even established if Valerie was attracted to women or not

While Elena is a boring character, I’m happy Brytni went to Y&R because even with their issues she gets better screentime that what GH gave her. Valerie had chemistry all over the GH canvas and fans really wanted the romance with Kristina to happen and nothing came of it, even with the recast. They had the double kiss of death by it being an LGBT story and involving a black woman. I like the new Valerie, but she is a dayplayer who has no connection to her family.

That's so odd.

Maybe that was the time Devon should have left town and been recast with a more interesting actor.

A recast wouldn’t have helped, that’s just how they did him for many years. I also think it’s crazy that they had someone like Tatyana Ali and gave her nothing to do. She had a hit primetime show and soaps LOVE casting former primetime/film actors. If she was white they would’ve made her a lead heroine. To this day I think it’s a missed opportunity not to bring an adult Roxanne back, as Devon’s first love. Doing that and pairing her with Nate would likely be more exciting than what they’re trying to do with Elena.
