When AW was canceled, it was announced on April 12, 1999 & the last work day was end of May 1999 & the last air date was June 25, 1999. These were the ratings at the bottom. Through a special agreement between NBC and BEACH they got a 6 month extension even though they had a lower rating. (And NBC half-owned them.) Their last air date was 12-31-99. (I use BEACH for Sunset Beach since I use SB for Santa Barbara.)

#9 AW 2.4

#10 PC 2.2

#11 BEACH 1.7

After the pre-emption hiatus PSSN debuted with a 1.9.

Does anyone know any demos for AW April '99 or for PSSN at their debut (July something '99) or any of the few early weeks? Thanks for anything!

ANOTHER WORLD PRIME TIME SPECIAL, JUNE 1992 DEMOS:

Recently started work on the rest of 1992. Won't be ready to post for a bit, but I noticed this AW primetime special, so here are the demos. Audience dropped some in the second half hour. First half hour got a 6.3.  Last half hour got a 5.9.

Not just an episode of Baby Talk. A REPEAT of Baby Talk. Beat AW by 2.1 points.

Since the Nielsen books don't do the rankings, you have to refer to a chart for a quick check of the overall ranking. Here's the Broadcasting chart for that week. AW came in 78th place. The Daytime Emmys, which followed AW, actually came in # 1 for the week.

In case anyone was just dying to know, the reruns of Full House and Home Improvement involved D.J. getting her learner's permit and Tim being visited by an old college buddy (Christopher McDonald).

Both of those primetime shows were pretty bad.

AW was basically trying to push some sultry vibe that did nothing to entice anybody to watch either the special or the regular series. It certainly wasn't on brand.

And the GL special was pretty slapdash as I recall.

The only thing that I still remember about GL's primetime anniversary special is when several of the show's actresses sat around and talked for an entire segment about all the "hot" men who were on the show at that time.  Like, seriously, ladies, take some cold showers, lol.

AW's primetime special was like most ads that NBCD's marketing department would make for GENERATIONS: they gave the uninitiated a show that was far more racy than what it really was.
