There's no reason to recast when you know Ron is going to break them up. It just makes zero sense why Sonny is in Salem while Will is in Arizona. Sonny went on and on about his mom's foundation but now he cares more about Titan than his mother's legacy.

Ron hasn't had a meaningful story for Sonny since his return. Ron has no clue how to write for a gay couple.
