Nelson Aspen Interviews Veteran soap scribe, Janet Iacobuzio

Quite surprised by all the love for Iacobuzio - she isn't terrible, but she is quite easily the worst SW at DAYS imo.

In quality terms, she can't compete with Salmons, The Cullitons, Ford or even the highly variable Cherrill.

Well, Iacubuzio was hired by Tomlin at DOOL when he was EP, then Macpherson/Thomas fired her for their clueless scriptwriters (Lyndsey Dyer and Roger Schroeder), then Tomlin rehired her when he became head writer on DOOL but she's only part time. She's only written 14-16 scripts since January. She averages about 2 episodes a month.

While some of the anecdotes JI had to share were interesting, I wish that someone else had conducted this "interview". It came across more as a giggly gabfest than anything of real substance or information. Of course, since NA and JI are friends, there really wasn't any objectivity to speak of. WLS has done much more polished features on/with actors before, so they are capable of more. JMHO...

Yes, he should have dug around to make her talk about why Carlivati fired her after four years as a OLTL breakdown writer. They clearly had a bad parting of the ways and her reference to being fired again by him when he "invaded" GH was the best bitter betty moment of the interview. Nelson left it alone...too bad.

I think she was better in the 80s when the writers had more creative freedom and more money to spend.

She's lucky to have part time employment at DOOL.
