January 16, 201412 yr Member He died this morning at the age of 89. http://www.eonline.com/news/500305/russell-johnson-the-professor-on-gilligan-s-island-dead-at-89 What a good man he was, loved by all. Full time fundraiser for AIDS research ever since his Son was diagnosed with it (and died in 1994) in addition to all of acting work over the years. Edited January 16, 201412 yr by alphanguy74
January 16, 201412 yr Member I didn't realize he was still alive. He was gorgeous on Gilligan's Island, and he seemed to do his best to try to help other people. I'm glad he can be with his son again.
January 16, 201412 yr Member I thought he had passed also. RIP. Gilligan' s Island reruns were a staple during my childhood
January 16, 201412 yr Member I went through the period when I was addicted to Gilligan's Island reruns. One of my favorite episodes is when they had a beauty contest between Mary Ann and Ginger. The Professor was so sweet supporting Mary Ann. It made me smile.
January 16, 201412 yr Member RIP. I didn't realize he was so close to 90. That means he would have been in his early 40s during GI's run, but he definitely looked much younger. The Professor was my favorite character after Mrs. Howell, so this makes me very sad indeed.
January 17, 201412 yr Member I liked Lovey, Thurston Howell, Ginger and The Professor. I had no use for Gilligan, Skipper and Mary Ann. RIP Edited January 17, 201412 yr by quartermainefan
