Though I will always associate your name with that well-endowed redhead, your new RW avatar is exquisite.

Thank you. It was time to move on. The love remains, but there are other things to love too.

I believe the creator said somewhere (Ent Weekly?) that the season would be in three "acts" and the pacing and focus of each act would be different--I know he said the first three episodes were the first act and were meant to be deliberate, and then it would speed up (I have no idea where the final act division is meant to be, though tongue.png )

Thanks for sharing, I did not know that.

I'm about to watch now. Girls and Looking both had their best written episodes so far this season, so I take your word for it. Big competition with the Olympics.

One thing I hate about tumblr, is as far as I can tell nothing is dated. But I'm assuming this quote is about Last week's episode. Kind of a funny little tidbit

Also, if you’re already a fan, the guy playing the bartender last night is the show’s writer, Nick Pizzolatto, which makes Woody Harrelson’s line “Why are you making me say this” a lot funnier.

I think Rust is obsessed with finding the real killer since he screwed it up in 1995 and can't let it go because he still grieves his daughter. That the new cops think it is him, is obvious from before - it will be interesting to see where it goes - with 3 episodes left, I'm not sure we will find out who the real murderer is (unless it is Rust in fact, something I would be ambivalent about) but I guess that may not be the point of the show.

McConaughey is a gifted actor - I never knew this before because the only things I have ever seen him in are fluffy romcoms.

Ok. This writer is way beyond me. I have no idea what his literary references are about so now I am confused and feel very stupid.

Inside Episode #5 Spoiler warning.

All this time, I thought Cohle's name was Russ and it's Rust!

Last night's episode was really good. The development in this show is like nothing I've ever seen before. I usually do not like stories told through flashbacks. But the way they've built this foundation and woven the past and the present together is fascinating.

I'm loving this show and Harrelson and McConnauhey are a perfect odd pairing of Hart and Cohle.

Hart, really wouldn't have a "praised past", if Cohle hadn't covered up his mess. What they both did, has allowed this suspect to still be out there for all this time.

Cohle is crazy, pessimistic and depressing, but he's an amazing detective.

When he told that woman to kill herself, because she wasn't going to be able to deal with living inside prison, I agreed.

I just read an article in Variety that said McConnaughey was originally tapped to play Marty instead of Rust, but that he pushed to play Cohle's part. "I wanted to get inside this dude's head".

I'm glad that he pushed to play Cohle. Not to take anything away from Harrelson, but I don't think he would have been able to portray Cohle's "otherness" and disappointment with life, humanity and the world as in my opinion, relatable like McConaughy.

I don't know. That's what is so weird. I can see them as switched roles, in I think it would be equally good, just different.

I honestly can't see the roles reversed at all. Which I think is a testament to how well both men have defined the characters. Honestly before this show, I didn't have much of an opinion on either actor as far as talent went but they both have truly blown me away on this show.

Particularly MM.

I missed the HBO Sunday night lineup this week, and holy [!@#$%^&*], I'm watching right now, turned to it right at the sex scene. I guess we all were right.

I had imagined that Cohle would confess that he was in love with Maggie and that's why none of his other relationships worked out.

See, I didn't think that she would use him against Marty as payback for all his years of cheating and screwing around on her. It made sense though and she wasn't one bit sorry about it.

That's how damn mad and upset she was about letting Marty back into her and the kids lives.
