Members KMan101
Wow. Sick. I can't say I am all that surprised. I was waiting for this. I hate how JER writes Billie. I'd much prefer Bo to turn to Billie and they realize they still have feelings for one another, not for Billie to manipulate the situation. Oh well. Can't really fight it. Although I am kinda looking forward to seeing Hope and Patrick together, if they do get together. I couldn't give two shits about Bo and Billie. I would care more if it wasn't so contrived and manipulated.
Members Bree
Not surprised in the least, especially with Kate. This is so typical of her. Well, we can't say the writing is inconsistent. Kate is a meddlesome mother, Billie is a man-ho, and Chelsea is a selfish skank. I wish it wasn't so predictable. Any of us could have written this story, seriously.
Members Jane1978
Well, I hope everyone who´s been so excited with Zack´s story and said how it means a new start for DAYS and how Reilly is oh so different and decided to write character based stories now will finally see the light with this spoiler. Nothing changed. Reilly is probably the most pigheaded writer on this planet. No matter how many times viewers refuses his ideas, he always finds some way how to realize it anyway. Let´s count. He tried to split B/H and put Billie back into their story atleast for ten times now. We had all that "let´s sleep together naked for warmth in the worst moment possible" attempts during island hell, next we got "we need to be undercover and kissing" moments during their search for Chelsea, and let´s not forget the most popular "I thought you are Hope because of gas" scene. Whenever he didn´t try to setup triangle or Corday forced him to stop it temporarily he put B/H on background. It really is still the same plan going from the moment Billie first appeared on island. And now, more than three years later, it seems Reilly finally succeed. So my only question is, are DAYS fans really so faithfull they will stay during years and years of Billie plotting and misunderstandings after misunderstandings coming, so B/H cannot reunite? With nothing interesting between? Because that´s what is before us. Be it some other writer I would be happy this setuping phase is finally behind us and now we can sit and watch this undoubtedly wonderfull, romantic and full of surprise way he will put them back together. But with Reilly? I´m really really afraid he is on his way to turn DAYS into one giant story where every supercouple will have his own villain plotting against them and it will drag on and on and on. This spoiler really tells it all.

Members King
Actually, Jane, I think most of us predicted this. I did, anyway. I know Keith did.
Members Jane1978
Yeah, I know. I expected it too. What surprised me he is not even trying to build B/B and H/P naturaly, but he is back to his usual supercouple (or destined couple) vs. villain style of writing. Where is Corday and his "we really believe viewers wants to see story where they don´t know what couple is the rooting one"? I think Reilly is acting like a coward again. Beside that, I see a very boring patern coming. We have Shelle vs. Mimi, we have Bope vs. Billie, we have Jarlena vs. Alex and I´m pretty sure as soon as Reilly finds a few minutes to put J/F together, we will get Jackiffer vs. Frankie. There is nothing exciting or fresh coming, just more of the same crap.

Members Bree
The one thing I absolutely can't stand about Reilly's writing is that all his characters, save for a few, can't exist unless they're one half of a "destined" couple. And if they're split up, they're automatically paired up with someone else temporarily. Now why I realize other writers do the same thing, at least other shows will explore new couples for quite a while. DAYS will not split up a couple unless it serves a plot, and if the couples aren't split, they're thrown into a triangle or quadrangle--and the sad thing is, it's the same groups over and over. Sami/Carrie/Lucas/Austin--same story that it was in 1995, but the characters are older and it's hiding behind this business story. Hope/Bo/Billie---same thing, except you have Chelsea now. John and Marlena aren't battling the devil this time, but Alex, a man who we still don't know the whole story behind. There's nothing wrong with having characters being on their own, not attached at the hip to another person. Reilly says he doesn't write to appease fanbases, but deep down, I'm starting to think he is.
Members PhoenixRising05
Uh they did build Bo/Billie and Patrick/Hope naturally. Hope and Patrick has been built up to since the islald nearly two years ago. I don't know if you watched the show today but you would see that what I mentioned in my posts wwas right-Billie is doing this for her daughter. I hate Chelsea too but that is Billie's daughter and she needs to do whatever it takes to save her and she knows very well that Hope will want the maximum sentence for Chelsea and will try to get Bo to side with her to ensure that she is punished. Billie knows they need Bo on their side to give their defense weight and since he is Zach's father it will make things look better. If Hope is still in the picture, that would never happen because Bo would never go agaisnt Hope daughter or not. That is why Billie fdoes what she does. Will she take advantage of that? yes and why wouldn't she? Its no secret that she still loves the man but she is not out to deliberately destroy Bo's marriage. She said that today and even said that it never works when scheming to break them up. If she happens to win Bo in the process then that is fine. Itr may be the wrong thing to do but she is a mother and that is the only option to ensure things. I know people hate this but there is no other way to go with this. BOPE just can't be by themselves during all this and you can;t bring anyone esle in and BOLLIE and HOTRICK is natural to go with given the circumstances since we are talking about Bo and Billie's daughter and Patrick has always been there for Hope and was the one that told her the truth. Basically I don;t see how you can say it isn't natural nor can I see how people seem to think this could another way without making this a short arc story. As for all the other stuff you mentioned, I get that you are a JER hater (your first post in this thread says it all) so that alone tells me why you hate what is going on even if the show is much better right now, a fact that many agree on. However, most of these current triangles work and are getting acclaim for many fans and the mags. I am not saying you should like it because, wihtout being offensive, I think you are one of those people that will hate everything under Days with JER at the helm (I don't know you always seem to pop into threads that have people complaining about Days but maybe its me). I am not trying to degrade your opinion or be disrespectful but with certain people I can;t help but wonder why they let a bias for a HW get in the way? I am not much for JER either but the show is doing very well and maybe I just can't see why so many are upset and shocked over this since it is what should happen in this story. I guess it just bugs me when it seems like certain people pop up when they see any sign of Days going bad (people complaining about spoilers, ratings, etc) and use it once again as a reason to bash JER. That is one of my pet peeves-seeing people still hate a writer for past mistakes. I don't care if some of this has been doen and I don't care if people beleive certain people are beyond triangles. Its a show and its there for entertainment and without being rude (and I am sure KR will agree with this) Days fans are the pickiest fans (with the exception of maybe GH). They never know what they want and most of the time never wait for things to play out before they happen. Days is not the only show that recycles stuff yet it gets the most flack for it. The worst thing is that when ratings go down or spoilers get a bad reaction at first you always get tons of people that haven't spoken when the show was unbelievable that come out of the woodwork bad gloat and say "I told you so." JER may not be perfect, no writer is, but at least Days is entertaining and has gone back to its roots instead of the sci fi . People can have opinions and maybe I am just in a bad mood today and testy but these are my observations and I am just trying to defend my show. Ok my rant is over-and Jane I do respect your opinion its just I don't get what you are seeing, especially after today's episode and the other spoilers I have read. I guess I will just respectfully disagree because I don;t want to start an uproar or anything. At least you gave me an excuse to vent after a bad day though . Noe see Bree that is the issue I keep referring too. No matter who writes Days they can't explore new couples because the fanbases won't let them. You need to write for the fanbases because if you don't they boycott. Its not just JER-its any wirter. Any other soap coule mix couples up. If these characters were on other shows, they could try a Bo/Jennifer pairing or something like that and not worry about boycotts and uproar like Days has to. It happens and that is why Days always needs to backtrack and rewrite stories which makes them turn into crap. People should just lay off them and let them write. As I have said, its pretty sad that when Corday does interviews now, he always has to say who the rooting couples are to reassure his fanbases that he hears them. In the 90's that never happened. Things were left open to lead people to think that Days may go in different directions with the characters and couples. Sadly, that no longer happens because some of these fanbases go so nuts over things that it hinder any writer Days has and it limits them.
Members Bree
I think fanbases are a big part of why soaps are declining. Crappy writers do take most of the blame, but these rabid groups that take out ads and threaten to boycott if their couple isn't on 5 days a week and not always together hurts daytime a lot. Writers should not only listen to fanbases and focus groups for feedback. Many viewers don't even post on the Internet, and they're being ignored. Members PhoenixRising05
Exactly Bree-but Days gets hurt the most IMO.
Members px780
I still don't get why this (and by "this" I mean the compromising position, not the Bo/Billie, Hope/Patrick temporary pairings) is the only way to go. There has to be another way to get there. If not that's...really, really sad. But whatever. As far as fanbases go- I hate rabid fanbases. But at the same time Days cultivated these groups by continuously focusing on love triangles in which one party is manipulative and marked as evil and the other two are trueloveforever. You can't make 'em grow, or feed them the way the Bo/Hope fanbase has been fed over the years, and then complain about fans restricting your ability to mix and match characters (or write story more generally, though that probably wouldn't be so hard if the writers expanded their repetoire), y'know? But I'm not so sure negative reaction to this is just a fanbase issue, anyway. At least not for me. It's not that I want trueloveforever couples happy and together and with nobody else. It's that I know what the endgame is, so it doesn't really make sense to sit through things (and I don't really plan to), especially if it's a simple, repetitive pattern. Billie doing it for her kid just ain't enough of a twist on the formula, imho. I mean, it's at this point that I'm an advocate of shoving people to the permanent backburner- screw their fans- and bringing on new characters. Why not try for a new Bo and Hope-like pairing instead of rehashing this one with Compromising Position (featuring Billie Reed) #742?
