Celebrities who loved soaps

So what celebrites do you guys know of that love soaps? I know Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor loved GH and Billy Currington loves GH. Reba McEntire was an All My Children fan and Julia Roberts loves DAYS. Wasn't Dolly Parton a One Life to Live fan or All My Children? I can't remember.

But remember the episode where Fran briefly had a role on the show? This might have been the same ep that featured Dorothy Lyman and (how random) Pamela Anderson.

I still maintain MAB thought she was hiring Madeline (and not Yvonne) to play Daisy.

Yeah, Pam played Heather Biblow, Fran's rival in high school who took her ex fiance from her. Heather might have had a small role on Y&R with Fran, too, I can't remember.

That's the one! I'm pretty sure, too, they made it seem as if Y&R taped in NYC, even though "The Nanny" themselves would later contradict that fact when the family visited L.A. (Continuity isn't Fran Drescher's strong suit, apparently.)

It says in the summary that Fran and Val were flown out to Hollywood.

Well, then, nevermind, lol.

Also, given that the show was NYC based - a BIG market for ABC soaps, it was strange she didn't rep them aside from occasional AMC references.

I'm sure the show being on CBS probably restricted them a little bit (and the AMC stuff was probably largely for DL, along with the DAYS stuff for CS).

It's always cracked me up how Friends tried to make it look like DAYS was shot in NYC instead of LA. In reality, Joey would have had, to quote Chandler, "a bitch of a commute."

Ah, now I see. I remember Pam and Dorothy being in that episode but somehow I forgot the whole Y&R angle. It's funny how the brain works (or doesn't work, in this case).

"Friends" was better off having Joey work on a fictitious soap.

I had hopes, though, Dorothy Lyman and Peter Bergman's characters would have one of those "Don't I know you from somewhere?" kind of moments on the Y&R "set."

Apparently, Roseanne was supposed to appear on OLTL, too, but it never worked out.

Thank God for that, too. Not that I dislike Roseanne, per se, but it annoyed me how much they had changed the character of Jennifer Smith to fit Roseanne's overall persona. (Because of her, too, GH was forced, I think, to recast Jennifer again with Sally Struthers in order to maintain some sense of continuity.) I can only imagine which character OLTL might have dug up and mangled for her (my guess: Delila).

And I can only imagine how much more fun it got once Sally f'n Struthers was cast as Jennifer in 2002!
