They had this news item up on MSN with his photo and I was thinking I know this guy from soaps and I realized...I have a GL clip up on youtube from David Grant's hearing on the death of Vinny Morrison. This guy played the racist, Joe Morrison, Vinny's uncle. He gets up to speak for the family (at 3:10) but gets put back in his place:

When I first saw the headline, I had no idea who this guy was, but after seeing the clip, I remember him and this storyline very well.

And weird....I was just starting to watch Philadelphia tonight and there's his name in the opening credits. Hadn't even realized/remembered he was in the film.

They even have his 911 call online. He's pretty lucid for someone who just shot himself in the head.

Poor guy. Diabetes has really done its job on him.

I'm having an emotionally rough day and this clip hit all the right buttons. Such heart, the subject at hand, all of those wonderful soap faces and that beautiful theme, the aunt's speech, the news of Mr. von Bargen... tears.
