Guiding Light Wednesday Spoilers

From TV Guide:

Spoiler Alert! Those special Wednesdays on Guiding Light - each devoted to a single character or a twisy gimmick - are getting too train-wreck crazy to miss. Here's what's coming up: On February 1, we learn that Gus and Alan are being held captive by a mystery figure. Says head writer David Kreizman: "We're doing it like Lost, with secrets of the past intercut with action in the present." Maybe too much action. In a move sure to rile fans, Gus' wife Harley -- who thinks he's dead -- will hit the sack with Mallet. On February 8, it's a riff on A Christmas Carol, with town pariah Jonathan facing the ghosts of his past, present and future. Then on February 15, eight top characters, none of them lovers, will spend the night in a country inn. "It's like a racy Agatha Christie," Kreizman says. "The next morning, everyone looks shifty -- then Lizzie shows up and finds a condom wrapper."

Wahh....my poor Dinah :(

The 8-person orgy is what worries me.

So 8 people are trapped together in an inn.

None of them are lovers.

It says it gets racy.

Then Lizzie walks in the next day and finds a condom wrapper?

This is a WHOLE different "WhoDunIt" then I ever imagined, lol.

So...here is who I think the 8 people with be:

Ava/Coop

Josh/Cassie

Dinah/Alan-Michael

Olivia/Buzz (or Frank, but probably Buzz)

I want Buzz/Olivia! LOL.

GL has been REALLY hit or miss for me lately. I know I barely talk about it but that's because it just hasn't interested me.

I like the fact that they've brought back Dinah, Alan-Michael and Mallet but their stories leave a lot to be desired. I do like all the tension Jammy is giving everyone but even that's getting old. Dinah and Mallet are the only thing i truly enjoy and that's going to be ruined with Harley spreading her legs for another guy. I'm sorry, why is Harley a rootable character? I haven't liked her in years. And Alan-Michael and Marina a girl who could literally be his daughter are now romantically involved? Gag me. I think they have a good find in Michael Dempsey, actually. I want his character expanded better.

Nicole Forester finally impressed me as Cassie in her scenes with Edmund last week and this week. I still don't care about Jeffrey. Why can't they just get rid of him. Argh...

GL just leaves a lot to be desired. It has it's moments and bright spots but I am losing interest. It's sad because back in 1997/1998 when I first got into it I loved it. It had idiotic stories then (um, Dolly) but it just was better. I can't believe I'm saying this: I miss Brown and Esensten.

ME TOO! God, I loved Guiding Light back then. I really did. I actually recognized the characters. Others may disagree, but I think that B&E rocked Guiding Light. As silly as it could get sometimes, the show just packed a dramatic punch. Seriously, I watched every day. Something happened every day. The characters were do-or-die, the tales were high-stakes. It was just fun. The show, as a whole, was fun.

I loved Annie/Josh/Reva. That was CLASSIC. Absolutely, absolutely classic!

Dinah/Cassie/Hart rocked, too. How hot was Hart?!

I even liked Michelle/Jesse/Drew. Tammy Blanchard was an incredible actress. She reminds me alot of Lindsay Korman (Hartley).

I loved Beth. Harley. Everybody.

The Clone story was great. Sure, it was out there. But it was fun, it gave us Kim Zimmer in a different light. It was heartbreaking, too. I loved it.

The Nursery Rhyme Stalker was creepy and wonderful. The outcome (Holly as the stalker) sucked, but up until that point, I was hooked.

It was just good eatin'. The show knew itself. And although, visually, the show is pretty much the same as it was then, there just seems to be a feeling of desperation when I watch nowadays. Like it's in dire straits, and every scene just seems desperate.

I agree! Fun times!

Are we sure John Conboy is gone? Kreizman must be a little freak-deaky. What's up with this this "COUNTRY INN ORGY?" LOL! Actually, it kinda sounds like some kind of swapping party. LOL! So, if all of these Wednesday episodes are homages to movies, I wonder what porn this episode is in homage of? :P

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
