I loved this episode. Just visually the whole sequence with Ilythia, Glaber and the girl (I forget her name) was striking and far more artistic than anything usually seen on tv. The whole episode was great to look at and I loved the shot if the reflection that turned upside down to show the real person. As for the story, I don't know what Ilhythia wants anymore. I guess she loves him in her own evil way, and they do make a great couple. They certainly get the award for most odd love scene. Ashur just has to get whats coming to him but he is so good I bet the show finds a way to save him.

I'm not sure what illythia is up to either. I think possibly she doesn't want to be without the protection of a father/husband. It's going to be interesting to see where things are left of for next year. I have to wonder where Illythia/Lucretia will fit in.

Wow, what an amazing finale! Finales seem to be Spartacus' strength and I think I yelled "Holy [!@#$%^&*]!" once. So now we know what Lucretia was all about. The whole episode was amazing, as was the last one, and I guess it is going to be a whole new show next year. Anyway, I want to discuss details but let me know when you watched it.

That was crazy! Everyone's dead! Well, not everyone, but close enough. I can't believe Lucretia killed herself and the baby, but I guess she stayed crazy. I'm going to miss Lucy Lawless. I'll also miss Mira she was a good character. Next season they are going to need a whole new cast!

Yeah, it will be a whole new show. I was reading interviews with the guy who produces the show and Lucy Lawless, and he was saying she was insane all the way through from the first episode this season and that her plan the entire season was to take the baby and bring him to her husband. That does fit in with the previous seasons I guess where she was trying her best to get pregnant. Ilythia is dead too. He said he loves both characters and actresses but they have to follow Spartacus and they are leaving Capua behind because Spartacus has to go around the empire having his war and there was just nothing else for the ladies to do. So better to send them out in a blaze of glory than keep them and have them become nothing characters.

Ashur got what was coming to him but I forget now what part he played in Naevia being sent to the mines, it was so long ago we saw that. Onameus was a surprise but then I read that historically Vesuvius was a real battle and that is where he really died. It will be a different show, I jut hope it will still be good. The two ladies contributed a lot to it and without them it might be a more straightforward battle show. I don't see who is left to provide the scheming and intrigue.

I think our only hope is that new characters are introduced to provide this. I think it's possible. We have to see some people on the Roman side I would think. Whoever is going to be coming after the former slaves next.

I guess I agree with if L&I had to go out, it's good they went out with a bang. Lucy Lawless had a pretty good run, especially with that extra season. I suppose in a few months will start to get more hints about new cast members and the direction season 3 will go in.

I don't watch this show, but what do you think of the recast? We go way back.

I'm having a hard time accepting what happened last night. Where do we go from that?

They are introducing two new characters, Crassus and a young Julius Caesar. Crassus was a general and was also the richest Roman who ever lived, and Julius is Julius. So it looks like the show is going to start to follow Spartacus in war more, and I guess use Caesar to handle political intrigue in Rome.

SFK, the recast took a little time but he works. He is very subdued though.

That's where the saying "rich as Croesus" comes from. Should be interesting. I just hope we get some interesting women. They killed them all off!

I just read that adjusted for inflation Crassus's wealth would be $180 billion.

Holy $hit!! No wonder that saying has passed the test of time. I look forward to seeing what the show does with him.

Spartacus season 3 will be the last season.

“Looking at the story in the history books, it’s wave after wave of Roman senators going after Spartacus who are defeated until [Roman general Marcus Crassus] comes in,” DeKnight says. “There’s only so many battles you can put a spin on. So let’s pick out the most interesting moments in this struggle and lay out a clear narrative for Spartacus and his rebellion. I wanted to lay out a strong forward narrative with a strong antagonist.”
