August 24, 201114 yr Member Church is supposed to teach you the word and the word doesn't say anything about judging anyone or treating anyone badly, but a lot of churches don't follow that. I've never been a churchgoer because it's hard to find one that actually delivers a positive message or one that isn't about money, money, money. I do like the sense of community, but it's enough to trump the minister having a message that I don't think is uplifting.

I don't know what exactly he did. He was living with his dad and his father kicked him out. I never found out why. You can't imagine how I felt when he told me his stomach churned thinking about being friends with me.
August 24, 201114 yr Member I went to an AA meeting tonight, and was surprised to hear a guy say "Atheist's cant get sober and stay sober" and was kind of surprised. Yes, the meeting was at a church and all, and i expected Jesus will save you, but man... It just kinds shocked me honestly. Good thing im not actually looking to get sober, cuz if i was that comment/view would totally throw me back to the bottle. I would have went in on that !@#$%^&*]. Seriously. College has taught me to hold my tongue in situations like that (and I'm sure the citizens of SON appreciate that), but sometimes it's just too much. I'd love to see his ass in a few years, probably still knocking them back.
