The Talk gets renewed for a second season

Not to be a Talk pimp but last week I took my mother out to lunch and she started quoting Holly Robinson Peete on something, I can't recall what. Out of curiosity, I asked Mom where she saw/heard this comment and she confessed that she's started watching The Talk. My mom quit soaps decades ago. Her only connection to them is nostalgia based on the attachment she and my dad had for Y&R, an equal nostalgia for AMC because of Jesse and Angie and the fact that I once loved the soaps too. (She actually refers to Michael Easton as "[my] friend Mike from New York.")

But again, my mother, who has a fair amount of disposable income (just ask the casinos in neighboring states!) is the last person ABC wants watching their soaps. Just like Oprah and me, Mom is too old and too dark for ABC's taste. Perhaps The Talk's advertisers are a little more open-minded.

LOL! I love this story! And I love that your mom is watching it!

Holly Robinson-Peete tells the best stories on that show. She's not shy.
