November 6, 2025Nov 6 Member R.I.P. Pauline. Both Rose (Jean Marsh) and Sarah (Pauline Collins) dead in the same year. There aren't many stars left now from this show. It's over 50 years old so that may not be surprising, but it still hurts every time one of them goes.

I already knew, but even without that knowledge it's quite easy to see that Jean Marsh has been added to the photo after the picture was taken. And here's proof, taken from the excellent Upstairs Downstairs web page. Anyone who wants to know anything about this masterpiece should visit that page. https://www.updown.org.uk/
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Member In all the excitement about Christmas I totally forgot the 50th anniversary of the final episode of Upstairs, Downstairs. It first aired on 21 December 1975. It was a beautiful end to a wonderful show. The only thing that annoys me slightly is that neither Elizabeth's nor Hazel's voices were heard when Rose walked through the empty house at the end. They were important figures in Rose's life at Eaton Place, so it would have been fitting if she had remembered conversations with them.
