You also have to have in mind that there are so many publications nowadays that they easily run out of material. So they have to recycle the same stuff over again. Though I guess we've had a steady stream of them since the mid or late 70s--I know for a while all those horror sequels really burned people out, but a few years back they seemed to be starting again.
