I loved how damn real, bitter, and sarcastic the humour on this show could be at times. It was such a departure from the sugary sweet sitcoms of that era. Finally, a family that looked like real people that had issues that weren't always resolved in 30 minutes.

Darlene, Roseanne, and Jackie were my favourite characters. The women really dominated this show, though John Goodman was hilarious and deserved an Emmy for his work, IMO.

I love the first 6 seasons or so, and I though the show should have ended during season 8. Season 9 was unnecessary, but I know Roseanne wanted it to reflect her real life and how she came from nothing to suddenly being rich and famous later in life.

One of my favourite sitcom moments EVER. Laurie Metcalfe deserved all those Emmy's she won for playing Jackie. LOL!

I can watch the first five or so seasons over and over and over and over again. So easy to relate to those characters and their stories and what-not.

Some of my favorites...the bowling alley episode, the one with Dan's birthday at the Lobo Lounge, almost all of the Halloween episodes. Remember when Roseanne dressed up as Prince?

Roseanne is and always will be my all-time favorite sitcom; I can never get enough of the reruns! I have seasons 1-6, and agree with the person who said seasons 1-6 were the best. Season 7 was when it started going downhill in quality and overall funniness. Season 8 definitely should've been a perfect way to end it with David & Darlene's wedding.

It's funny though, no matter how much I love Roseanne and love being able to see reruns of it late at night, I simply cannot sit through half the episodes from Season 9, they were *that* terrible. One episode was entirely about Leon and his boyfriend and Bev and her new girlfriend, while another had Jackie and Mark at a white-trash WWF-like wrestling match. Oy... the last episode is so good though. Especially that bittersweet ending... seeing Roseanne explain what really happened during the past year and then we see her walk through the kitchen and living room which are back to their original furnishings instead of the post-lottery decorations... you just get a lump in your throat seeing the end. :)

I read/heard somewhere that Roseanne at one point had a change of heart and proposed to ABC that they do a tenth season where Roseanne (and perhaps Jackie?) moved to Vegas and had a show... I'm guessing this would've continued their lottery money success.

      Someone has been posted episodes from 1994 and Jill Powell (Marcy Lafferty) has a hot storyline right now. Just googled her and in real-life she is now openly out as a Lesbian with a transgender son.

      Did anyone else notice that DAYS has not been in the Top 10 most streamed shows on Peacock this week??? I find that very strange considering how good the show has been, especially this week.

      Cast changes in 2025 (so far, not much has happened): GZSZ Pauline Afaja (Flo Kästner) departed on March 10th, 2025. She had only been on the show for about a year. Flo as a character never really clicked with the audience. Her final storyline involved her catching feelings for the much older Nina Reichelt Klee Ahrens Navarro out of the blue – while she was in a relationship with the wheelchair-bound Jonas Seefeld. Onno Buß joined the cast as Julian Kaltenbach on January 31st, 2025. Julian is Matilda's twin brother ... and another illegitimate child of Jo Gerner. Charlott Reschke, who had played Johanna Flemming on a recurring basis from 2015 to 2024, returned at the end of May. The 20-year old actress has now been placed on contract. Last week on GZSZ:

      Not to ramble too far off topic but it happens a lot with comics too, especially only wanting to keep cheap talent around and pushing out creative voices. There are some patches where creatives can go to start their own worlds...wish that was true with soaps, but who knows, maybe it can happen someday. I never thought we'd get a new soap this year.

      Plus we are never going to have a Shonda Rhimes, a Dick Wolf, or a Chuck Lorre of daytime -- a single brilliant person who could come in and change the genre -- because Shonda, Dick, or Chuck would only be able to work on one soap opera at a time, not three or four at the same time as they do in primetime.  As long as TPTB insist on the 60-minute format, we will never have another super influential individual like Phillips, Nixon, or Bell.  They simply would never have time to do more than one soap opera at a time and that would stifle their influence overall. Thanks. So maybe this is happening to some degree in other entertainment genres.  I don't keep up with the particular franchises you mentioned, so I was unaware.  I appreciate your perspective.
