ATWT Anthony Herrera interview

This is a wonderful interview in which Anthony Herrera sheds light not only on his own personal battle with cancer but sheds light on his thoughts on of course everyone's favorite villain and shares his thoughts on ATWT's cancellation:

'World' still turns for soap star

Cancellation isn't end of the story for Miss. native

He sipped champagne, watched the snow swirl outside a friend's New York apartment and pondered this question: Do I put a .38 caliber pistol to my temple and pull the trigger or do I prepare for the toughest fight of my life?

Earlier that day in January 1997, Anthony Herrera - a native of Wiggins who became a national star playing the role of villain James Stenbeck on the CBS soap As The World Turns - had been diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, a rare and lethal form of cancer.

"I knew I couldn't go back and forth about it," Herrera says. "It was either give up or saddle up."

Thanks. I enjoyed the interview. I didn't know how close he was to suicide, or that he's been dealing with cancer for his entire return as James, ever since 1997.

He always brings such style and a center to the role of James, even when the writing isn't there. It's his belief in the character which makes it work, even now.

I think that's the key to good acting: you have to believe your character is actually the hero of the story, and that everything he/she does is perfectly justified. Otherwise, your audience can see right through you.

Great interview. I had NO idea he was an alumni of Ole Miss.

Anthony Herrera and James Stenbeck are cool as hell.

But F*CK OLE MISS.

And Houston Nutt too! They'll learn their lesson too!
