That was an interesting read. Everyone keeps talking about Jay Leno and how he's not performing well ratings wise, but hardly anyone takes into consideration how much net profit he generates. This article for example only compares ad rates for 30 seconds spots but it doesn't give us the full picture of the amount of money the show actually nets once costs have been accounted for.

Yeah, I read somewhere that NBC was going to make around 300 million off Leno because it's so cheap to produce.

the biggest problem with Leno is this...

yes, he is cheap to make and brings in a lot. however, he has taken 5 primetime hours from them. shows like SVU are not doing well because they are not on the 10pm hour. Local news is falling at lightspeed because of his show.

This is one of those... yes, he makes us a profit. is it worth it?

on the flipside, nbc needs as much cash flow as they can.
