I would have to think he is and second place isn't even close. He makes his own schedule and works less than half a year. He undoubtedly is the highest paid actor on a per day basis. He seems to have the most input on storyline of any actor. He is said to be the only one allowed to just throw scripts away and rewrite on a whim. He clearly cannot be fired because why would any show tolerate an actor who tells you when he is available unless they had to. Then he is the only actor on the show capable of winning emmys. He is the only actor on the show that can get any sort of attention from people. No one else on cast is even known outside of GH fandom. He goes to NY for some equity fights aids thing and he is the news. The local news never heard of Maurice Benard or Steve Burton nor do they want to hear of them.

Don't people think if Maurice Benard after 15 years of working 5 days a week day in and day out, that if he could get Tony Geary's schedule or even something sort of akin to it, that he would? Isn't this always the sticking point for Steve Burton, wanting time to live near the Reeves in Tennessee somewhere? If someone has more power at GH than Tony Geary I would be curious to know who it is. Steve Burton has to show up day after day after day while Tony Geary is smoking cigars somewhere in Amsterdam deciding whether he feels like working this year and with whom. I would think if you polled the GH cast on who has the deal they want, each and every one would say Geary's.

I thought Ingo also had a deal that lets him take a good amount of time off. I also wonder how much of a huge difference in salary he makes now compared to some of the other GH actors like Steve Burton. He also has much less storyline than someone like Burton, as Luke has become increasingly irrelevant, so I'm not surprised if he is more able to travel when he wants to travel. I would assume that Geary knows he's not going to get a lot of work elsewhere, that his days of being a big name are over, and he may not make big demands in terms of money. I think that his idea of story changes probably goes along with what Guza wants. Guza hates the Spencers and the idea of Luke and Laura, he's done his best to slowly destroy that family since he first took over in 1996.

Darn, I know what you mean about the list. I was baffled at the Martha Byrne choice. I'm glad she has bounced back after leaving ATWT, but a job scriptwriting at B&B and a short term role on GH, playing an awful character in a lousy story, and getting comments like the one at Serial Drama which basically said, "I thought she could act, what happened?" I don't know if that's a power move.

I love CC and she's certainly branching out...but #1, definitely not. I think I'm not more annoyed by that because the whole thing is so ridiculous, the bias may as well favor someone who is talented and seems cool. I'm sure by next year he'll despise her.

Oh dear lord, I think I actually busted a gut laughing over this one. VWS While Patty Williams is sometimes good for a laugh despite the freaky approach YnR has to dealing with her mental illness, it's all a little too 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?' for me...only it's all 'Baby Jane', and not enough 'Blanche'.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
