LOS ANGELES - Television host Ed McMahon, best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on the 'Tonight Show,' has died at age 86, his publicist said Tuesday.

McMahon died just past midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, agent Howard Bragman said.

Awe, this is really sad. My sympathies lie with his family. He was good man, with quite the sense of humor.
