Members Y&RWorldTurner
OK, this one is pretty funny, and probably kind of true judging by what we've seen on screen this past year. LOL! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1ZOTSQ6PFY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1ZOTSQ6PFY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1ZOTSQ6PFY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Of course, it's yet another sign of the growing fan dissatisfaction with Y&R... Members cara mia
Funny but Cartoon Hogan is way too thin. He should have been three times that size.
Members alphanguy74
As far as the weardrobe thing... maybe some expensive fashion house WOULDN'T provide clothes, but a store such as Macy's certainly could. Now, for the background music, they obviously have no problem with licensing rights on any of the pieces from the past. First of all, they HAVE used the slow version of "Sally's Theme" with Katherine scenes, most recently it was used when Katherine gave up and left town to go live with Murphy. That piece is part of the original 1973 score, and that score was composed in it's entirety by the same three men, McGinnis, Winn, and Tood. There's just tons MORE pieces from the same score that could be utilized, and they WERE utilized all throught the 80's and even as late as 2000 and 2001. The pieces that were composed by Alloco, Kurtz, and Davidson in the 80's are still being used everyday, there's jsut SOME they don't utilize any more, they can bring those back. All in all, the background library contains nearly 100 pieces, and right now, they are using about a third of them. You see, Santa Barbara's problem comes from them using pop music in their background score... that coems from record companies, an outside source, which they DON'T own the licensing to. When a show commissions their own background score, like Y&R does, 99percent of the time, they have what is called a "work for hire" copyright contract. Which means the composer still gets a royalty through ASCAP or BMI for the use of the music, but the production company of the show (In this case, Bell Dramatic Serial company, which used to be Bell/Phillip televsision productions) retains the licensing rights to the music. Members BadZoe
speaking of music, I am so sick of that song they play whenever they are at the coffee house, "I wanna run away". Although that might be kind of humorous if they played it when P3 shows up there.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Do these idiots running this show really watch what they're writing? Can they honestly back their reasoning up for why the pacing on this show is all over the place? This show is infuriating to get through. Again, I'm hoping for a significant writing/producing change by the end of the year. I'm tired of the crap this writing regime thinks is great soap opera. Members bellcurve
I was watching it today(as I woke up) and the Phillip stuff is just awful. Also, how the hell could Adam drive/walk to any grocery store with his poor vision? And why wouldn't anyone else around town notice that Adam(who is on house arrest, after being publicly humiliated and jailed by TGVN) was walking around and about? Alot of what is going on just seems to defy logic. I hope someone at Bell/Sony wakes up. I don't see this loyal audience watching this trash for much longer. Y&R's rep as a soap that is "more real" than the others is being thrown out of the window for half-baked ideas and fan baiting.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Exactly. I really do think it's only a matter of time before the Bell's are forced off this show...
Members alphanguy74
What are you talking about? who said anything about a grocery store? He just brought her a bag full of stuff from the house.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
The vision excuse still stands, how does Adam know to navigate his way throughout the entire Newman Ranch with his eyesight? It doesn't make any sense. We've seen him do it in BOTH the night and in daylight. This is ridiculous. And then they want us to believe he barely saw Patty Jane through the window the other day? Members rhythmchyc
I don't think I'm fanwanking here. I think the botox is wearing off so that he partially has his sight right now. How else would he have been able to not see that the letter Victor wrote him was upside down when he was in prison but see Mary Jane's face so clearly last week? I think his eyes will steadily deteriorate until he becomes completely blind. Of course, if someone would explain this mess, it would be really helpful. A blink and you miss it miscarriage and a blind man who can see in the dark is really shoddy writing. It's like we have to overthink some things (the aforementioned aspects of the gaslighting stories) and be forced to not thinking about the same things because they're so ridiculous (the aforementioned aspects of the gaslighting stories) at the same time. Members Cat
He would also have to remove the tag around his ankle. How's that diet going, Adam?
Members Y&RWorldTurner
But even when he injected botox into his eyes, he was able to see and go out and wander around the Newman Ranch. It really makes no sense. Yep.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
You have to roll your eyes when this show groups three character they have no idea what to do with, "Colleen", Gloria, and Jeffrey, into the same inane plot because they have nothing else for these characters to do. Maria Arena Bell & Company obviously have no idea not only how to pare down their cast, but they have no idea when to just write these characters off that they've run out of ideas for. It's really pathetic, and there is NO EXCUSE. And you all know this "Colleen"/Gloria/Jeffrey plot will probably on be played for three episodes...
