We're trying to mix it up and give different characters turns at being front and center," says Co-Head Writer Scott Hamner. "We're also turning to a lot of history. Expect a lot of surprises."

Sharon/Jack/Nick/Phyllis/Billy: "The paternity of Sharon's baby will be revealed. The revelation of who the father is will launch a huge, new story art that will take us way into the fall. It'll involve all of the Newmans and Abbotts and will be a very big story that will be emotional for all of the participants. It's not just about the revelation; it goes way beyond that and redefines everyone involved."

Victor/Adam/Ashley: "Adam is going to be running amok for quite some time. The danger of Adam is not only does he have Victor in his sights, he also has Jack in his sights. He is just driven to destroy these two men at any expense and then he becomes even more of a threat because he's able to fly under the radar. He's trouble and is going to be messing things up, generating a riptide of destruction."

Paul/Nikki/Mary Jane: "Mary Jane's identity comes to light. We're seeing just the tip of the iceberg with her. We'll learn what she's in town to do, and it's going to be a really huge surprise. I think it's going to be tremendous fun. Her presence is going to affect Paul as well as everyone else on the canvas. But Paul is going to be front and center in this story."

Cane/Lily: "They both stand to lose what they value and desire the most. They have a beautiful romance, but it will be threatened."

Kay/Jill: "There are going to be huge revelations; there are still secrets about the Chancellor family history that have not yet been discovered. There are going to be triple whammies in this story."

Kevin/Jana/Daniel/Amber: "They're going to be involved in a mystery that's going going to be twofold in its revelations. It has an explosive effect on Daniel and Amber due to the reveal of one secret, but under that revelation is another twist that's going to impact Kevin and Jana."

Good. Sounds okay.

All I say is: they better not kill off or write out this character. You don't use a legacy character like that just to write a destruction-revenge plot.

So, as suspected by many, MJ is Patty.

Sounds good.

Yawn.

They better do the entire P4 story justice.

Maybe Jana's still secretly stealing art? I'm still a bit shaky on this whole FBI stuff, even though it ain't bad.

Really? You're TRYING TO? I hope you succeed...

I hate it that Hamner keeps doing these.

And to add an end note: where exactly are they trying to mix it up? What's up with: Neil, Tyra, Devon, Heather, Gloria, Jeff, Victoria, J.T., Michael, Lauren, "Colleen," Noah, Eden? Nowhere.

They don't want to cut those characters because they don't want to admit that they don't have the ability to write for all characters.

Noah and Eden are just recurring and only thrown in whenever they are needed to create conflict. That's fine, I guess.

Michael is on the backburner where he belongs, and Lauren should stay along with him.

I'm fine with both Gloria and Jeff staying as comic relief.

I guess Heather will be involved in Adam's story, but it wouldn't hurt them to develop something for her as well. I guess she has some future with Adam in mind, or maybe even some connection with Patty Jane.

And then we got the worse left....

J.T. and Victoria need to leave town, as earlier suggested. It's an insult to everyone to keep them for nothing.

And as for the Winters family, I don't want them to leave, but I also don't want to go through their boring storylines. Tyra needs to be dropped because she's just as bad of a creation as Karen was. The only rescue I see comes in the form of Dru.

Here are my predictions/speculations:

"The paternity of Sharon's baby will [...] launch a huge, new story arc that will take us way into the fall. It'll involve all of the Newmans and Abbotts and will be a very big story that [...] goes way beyond [the initial revelation] and redefines everyone involved."

Upon learning that Billy, his own half-brother, fathered Sharon's baby, Jack, disgusted with Sharon, turns to Phyllis, who is left feeling hurt and angry after Nick begins spending more and more time with Sharon (even though he knows she is not pregnant with his child). Meanwhile, Billy feels obligated to include himself in Sharon's pregnancy, leaving Chloe and baby Delia the odd girls out. Will Chloe try to take Cane back from Lily? Doubt it. Instead, I think PC4 will end up her new love interest; while Cane, on the outs with Lily once we figure out all that's behind The Phone Call, will end up with Mac.

"Adam [not only has] Victor in his sights, he also has Jack in his sights. He is just driven to destroy these two men at any expense and then he becomes even more of a threat because he's able to fly under the radar. He's trouble and is going to be messing things up, generating a riptide of destruction."

Because of all the stress she is under, Ashley goes into premature labor; either the baby dies, or it lives, but with complications. Either way, Victor is devastated, and Jack holds his archenemy responsible for his sister's latest breakdown. So, with Adam secretly orchestrating everything, Jack goes gunning for Victor like never before. However, when all's said and done, Jabot's future as a corporation could be left in jeopardy, with Adam the unlikely "victor" for having ruined both his father's life (w/ Ashley's birth and subsequent breakdown) and Jack's (with Jabot's fall resting squarely on his shoulders). And Amelia and Thad Victoria and J.T. will just stand by the whole time, looking as they always do: stoopid.

"Mary Jane's identity comes to light [and we'll] learn what she's in town to do[....] Her presence is going to affect Paul as well as everyone else on the canvas. But Paul is going to be front and center in this story."

Patty Jane is (finally) revealed to be Paul's estranged baby sister. Her mission: to make Jack fall in love with her, as "Mary Jane Benson". Unfortunately, between his resumed relationship with Phyllis, as well as his ongoing feud with Victor, once again, Patty is not Jack's first priority. Patty comes to see Phyllis as an obstacle which must be eliminated, but Jack ends up the target. (I wouldn't be shocked if Patty ends up shooting the bastard again.) Her identity no longer a secret, Paul pledges to put everything on hold and tend to his sister's emotional and psychological rehabilitation. However, his devotion to his sister, who is back in his life after many years apart, comes with a price: his relationship with Nikki suffers, and she ends up leaning on Victor once again for support.

"[Cane and Lily] both stand to lose what they value and desire the most."

As I said, the fact that Cane remembered The Phone Call (w/ you-know-who on the other end) on the same day Lily professed ("before God and everybody") how she can always trust him to be honest with her tells me we'll learn exactly what Cane's secret is, and that once she knows, Lily will question whether she can stay married to someone who has been keeping things from her (again). Add Mac, who will be sympathetic toward Cane, and you have a dilemma (or a blessing, depending upon how you feel about Cane and Lily). But, you-know-who's arrival might mean Cane's life is in danger, with Lily caught somehow in the crossfire (again, a blessing, for those who don't like Lily).

"There are going to be huge revelations [...] about the Chancellor family history that have not yet been discovered."

He's PC3, he's not dead, and he is the real Phillip Chancellor III. But he's hiding out from some shady customers (who might tie in with Daniel's story) and Cane was helping to hide him out. Kay was absolutely wrong about the baby-switch; in fact, what she remembered was not her actually switching Jill's baby, but her desire to. Jill and Kay are glad to see he's alive, but they're mad at him for pretending to be dead, and they're mad at Cane for being an impostor, too. And as for Nina and Amber working on the screenplay based on Kay's book? Something tells me, anyway, the two will go on a fact-finding mission to locate Kay's biological daughter (since, the reveal that it isn't Jill kinda ruins the whole story) and they'll discover she's either Nikki, or Gloria, or someone related to Amber.

"[The art-forgery mystery] has an explosive effect on Daniel and Amber due to the reveal of one secret, but under that revelation is another twist that's going to impact Kevin and Jana."

I've no idea on this one. Chances are, though, it'll involve a lot of running around in the woods, and Jana ripping off Howard Aucker's face-mask to reveal he's really Old Man McCutcheon back-from-the-dead Clint Radisson in disguise, which they'll all laugh about later at the Crimson Lights while feeding Scooby his "Scooby Snacks".
