Thanks!

I glanced at the AWHP character guide and I think (although I am not 100% sure) that Josie kept the surname Watts even after she found out that Russ Matthews was her father and even after she married Gary Sinclair.

I was looking at the auditions page since the latest update mentioned new details added. This is not new but Petronia Paley's entry mentioned her auditioning for another part which was ultimately cast with a white actress before they created Quinn for her. Do we know what the other part was? It sounds like it didn't last long.

Another World - December 27th 1988

After the Christmas highs, the people of Bay City are starting to experience post-Christmas blues.

In their living room, Rachel and Mac were coming to grips with the grim reality that Vicky will be their daughter in law. Rachel couldn't believe herself when she uttered the words - Donna Hudson will be Jamie's mother in law! Can you imagine? Mac laughed. Rachel then decided to pay a visit to the Hudson's apartment - to talk with Donna about the future wedding. We learned that 300 guests, orchestra and a ballroom is Donna Hudson's definition of a small, demure ceremony.

Sharlene was struggling to find money to pay for a substitute necklace. She was all over the place, angry and chaotic, throwing dishes. In the end she got so desperate that she asked her low-life brother Jason for help. Jason, of course, decided it's time to play a game of blackmail - he visited Iris and threatened to reveal she was the Chief. You are walking on thin ice, Jason.

John had a session with Mary, where the dept of his trauma became even more apparent. I can't help but feel that his recent opening up to Sharlene and developing romantic involvement with her... has opened the Pandora's box of his psyche. Because, you can't love fully and completely, without healing yourself first. I truly believe that. And I believe that Sharlene's love will help heal John.

The meat of the episode was that Iris found a way to attach herself to Michael Hudson. She took the free spot at the hospital board, which Michael is also a part of. She, of course, cornered him and started gaslighting him into lowering his guard. All she wants is to help the sick and the struggling! How noble and innocent of her! Michael... took the bait and promised her to work together. He disappointed me.

Because he damn well knows what she is doing and he is starting to allow her to do it. We'll see how far Iris will go. I love storylines like these, as cliche as they are. I love a friend-husband-stealer.

Overall - 10/10

Favorite moment - Iris being blackmailed by Jason Frame.   These two... are two of a kind.

As I recall, on Bold... he played Taylor's dad - Jack, who had a gambling problem. My husband was shocked when he saw him in the role of Jason Frame... he couldn't believe Taylor's father could be so wicked. We definitely prefer him as Jason.

I didn't make that connection, till you said it... I had read that story years ago (in Drama school we studied Guy de Maupassant at one point) and now you refreshed my memory with it. Thank you for this.

I assume they aired the episodes in an hour-long timeslot . . . I have an idea that they placed the commercial breaks differently from the original broadcast, but am not sure whether they actually cut anything. Airtime without commercials was about 42 minutes, right? Did Soapnet air more than 18 minutes of commercials?

Another World, December 28 1988

In one sentence - No good deed goes unpunished.

Now, let's begin, shall we.

Mary, acting like the good psychiatrist she is, surprised Pilara with an unexpected gift - she offered to give her the other silver candlestick, so that she can sell it for more money. Of course, this was a beautifully crafted psychological tactic which caused an inner struggle for Pilara, who started debating if she should return the stolen one. Mary played with her guilt. The glimpses of remorse were however overshadowed by the arrival of Pilara's abusive boyfriend, who gaslit her back to surrender and even ominously hinted that he has something coming for Mary and her family.

In a very bitchy scene, we had Vicky extending a helping hand to cold and irritated Lisa. Vicky wanted to relate to her in some way and she made the mistake of saying - It's not my fault we fell in love with the same guy. (Or something like that) To which Lisa replied - Too bad you had to get pregnant to get him! Ouch! That must have hurt! And that pain continued for Vicky, when... Jamie seeing Lisa in some kind of distress... ran to her rescue  - IN FRONT of his pregnant fiancé.

In the follow-up to this scene, Lisa completely shattered Jamie and his attempt at sympathy... with the words - I wish you are miserable with her. My husband and I cheered! That's the kind of woman I want to see and not the usual soap opera... crying, begging damsel in distress.

Iris was extra stunning today -  dressed in purple, dripping in jewelry, sporting a hairdo that only Joan Crawford can pull off.  Her new goal and main focus right now is Donna's husband and creating circumstances for him to be around her. Of course veiling all that wickedness with fake charitability - she wants to impress Michael by giving the hospital a huge donation.  Michael, Michael, Michael - that is all that she sees right now... and Evan, the escort, is not needed anymore - she gave him the cold shoulder once again and send him on his way to Amanda - to continue his seduction attempt.

Talking about Amanda - she decided it's time to put her journalistic plan in action and go on the date in research for her article. Sam was not approving and even expressed caution for what kind of person she may encounter. He told her that there are all kinds of psychos out there. And he is right! Later in the day, while Amanda was already on her date with the guy, Sam, the macho guy that he is, lost his sh't... got red in the eyes, full of rage and jealousy. He ended the episode by punching the guy out of the frame. Oh, testosterone! How handy you come sometimes and how useless at others.

Overall - 10 out of 10.

Favorite moment - Lisa putting Jamie in his deserved place! Bye, Jamie!
