I found this episode where both Grant and Justine (posing as Rachel) are interested in buying the Huntington Mansion.

I don't remember the Chapin Estate ever being mentioned again post-Le Soleil. I do recall Chris Chapin's offscreen death was reported at some point.

Okay, then it was the Huntington Mansion connected to Justine. I was wrong. Thank you for sharing the episode and the information.

That's when Carl was going bad (had a brain tumor). Nancy called Rachel offcamera to tell her Chris had fallen from his apartment window or something. Richard Culliton tried to use history during his brief headwriting stint. I do wonder how many AW fans by that point even knew who Nancy or Chris were.

I thought Chris Chapin's death was such an odd thing to happen at that point. You want to show that Carl Hutchins has reverted to his former self, so you kill off someone who hasn't been on the show since, what, '85? HUH??

I was hoping you were right!

I take your point and yet I thought Chris Chapin was a choice that both didn't risk throwing away any useful future relationships while also being able to make a case that he had had a meaningful relationship to both the Corys and the Hutchinses. I don't know if there was another character that had been onscreen more recently who fit that bill and I preferred this use of Chris Chapin to the introduction of a total rando.

Poor Nancy -- Perry died, then Greg fell victim to the Sin Stalker, and then eventually Chris met his tragic fate.

Not that he had been around much more recently, or that it made much difference in the end, but I would have been livid if they had had Carl kill Peter.
