Members MarkH
From this source: I am actually upset about this. If Sursok is going to get this number of outs, can we just recast and get a viable Colleen, PLEASE?? The possibilities of a JT-Mac-Colleen-Victoria thing, and a Mac-Billy-Sharon-Jack-Chloe-Phyllis-Nick thing really require a viable Colleen who is driving story, IMO. Members JackPeyton
the show obsly has ZERO want or desire for colleen. Otherwise they wouldnt allow TS to leave all the time. I strongly doubt she has this mkany leaves in her contract.
Members MarkH
Agreed. But if they are this unenthusiastic about her...why continue this farce of a contract, character and story? Why not either rest the character, or recast? Answer: Someone must be insisting that they keep this performer. If so, then I'd like to see her USED, so she might grow into the role? I have to say, I really am starting to feel that the Y&R cast is over-large. There are so many characters I want to see used more, and they can't be. I'm hopeful that the kind of "trimming" that Sylph wants for the writing team also happens on the cast side.
Members dm.
No star should get that kind of treatment. Colleen should be involved in those storyline and turn back into the character we used to love. Just cut her loose already.
Members Sylph
This is a bait, isn't it? You know I like writing teams talk! Anyway, yes, it needs to be trimmed. Because, that whole greatness of product you're talking and because of which you think the team is as good as it can be, perhaps comes with too much effort. Why do something the harder way (50 writers) when you can do it in an easy way (10 writers tops)? That's all.
Members dm.
It's pretty obvious MAB doesn't want that. She had over a year to find her team. Even though, IMO, thinks are working fine, it doesn't seem like she will settle down anytime soon. It's a sad day when a Y&R doesn't want to see a character like Colleen on their screens. To be fair, it seems like that character exited a long time ago. This is a Latham recast that needs to be dealt with.
Members Sylph
Which is weird. 'Cause one would think she wants to purge the show of any Latham-influences. Newsflash: some remnants are still there (Hamner e.g., who's like a spokesperson now, right?). I wouldn't have, actually I would, but let's pretend I wouldn't, a problem with her constant hirings/firings if in the end we would get a compact, tight team (even if it's 50 people). To me, she just doesn't know what she's doing. She was happy with Racina, then one day - bye, bye. She hired Salmons and of all people dumped her first. Then she really didn't bring any former "Bell writers"... Or perhaps they didn't want to come back.
Members dm.
We're getting a big off topic. But then again if we move the conversation to the Directors & Writers topic, they'll complain that it's all about Y&R all the time.
Members MarkH
No, this cast-cut thing is not a bait. I just cut half the cast of Y&R in my "fantasy" cutting over in JP's DTS thread.
Members Sylph
I meant — bolding Sylph and mentioning writers. That was a bait or no?
Members MarkH
That is what I have heard.
Members MarkH
Really, no. I honestly just felt that the kind of trimming that you argue would lead to a better (clearer, more cohesive, more focused, simpler) show on the writing side, I believe could also happen on the performer side. And with a big bloodletting of the cast, it achieves two goals: Immediate cost cuts (even if some of the dismissed are younger/cheaper), and a cleaner canvas from which to bring in new characters, in the future, more judiciously. Honestly, I think the goal ought to be to have characters that you use 3-4 days a week. (In that sense -- only -- I admire General Hospital). Then, there is momentum in the stories, and the viewers know what they are getting on a consistent basis.
Members baller
That's exactly it. Just cut her lose, cause this is even worse. I wonder what effect it has on actors at the show who want to do projects and may not be able to get out. Y&R seems to be letting them these days, but it's been mainly for CBS shows. Members Cat
Sweetie. Go chase your star in films! And then Y&R should go cap-in-hand -- and one HUGE apology -- to Adrianne Leon.
Members Desertrose
Hmmm...the first Flicka movie (which was actually a remake from the 1943 version of "My Friend Flicka" with Roddy McDowell- pretty good movie btw) was really really bad...rented it & could barely get through it- for a lot of reasons. (Mostly bad writing and stupid stuff about horses. LOL) Don't really see this as a "big jump into films" for Tammin. They really need to move thstory along & if she's not going to be around...well...maybe they need to recast. I liked Adrianne Leon... liked her on GH,too.
