that Sheila will be out very quickly on the heals of Tom's departure.

The source said that Sheila was always intended to be a short-term character.

WHATEVER, she signed a 3-yar contract!

GOOD Sheila is gone though! Although I feel bad for Kimberlin Brown, giving up her role on OLTL and all. I can't wait to read KB's thoughts on all this(if any).

I wish she would of stayed on OLTL. I was one of the few who liked her as Paige.

How DARE they backpeddle and make it seem as if Sheila was short term! God I'm pissed! They lied to both Kimberlin AND the viewers. How is that right?! The biggest return in the history of Y&R and they screw it up royally!

For the record, I NEVER agreed for Sheila to return(after the Cameron mess, I just had a hunch)....

This makes me wish she were on the current B&B. Even though she wouldn't fit into into the story and Bradley Bell can't write a payoff for [!@#$%^&*], the initial episodes would be motherfuckingawesome (It's all one word because of my imaginiation). This was probably one of the few royal fuckups Y&R has done (making Adrienne Leon nuColleen being the biggest). JT and Mac is a minor fuckup because they aren't worth [!@#$%^&*].

Well seems to me I heard Kimberlin wanted out... but who knows. Seems foolish if this is the case this is obviously one of the biggest botched returns in all of daytime history.

this was *the* biggest return in Y&R's recent history. And they fucked it so damn bad.

The setup was perfect. Kidnapping charges against Lauren and Scott were past the statute of limitations. Taylor never died. Mary was grown up. Sheila faced little to no criminal charges. She could have come back, looked Lauren right in the eye on episode 1 and said "Hey there !@#$%^&*]!" and nothing woulda happened. So what do they do? Have Sheila poison her! And what of her double? Are they going to explain that?! They promised a huge reveal as to who she was. And I don't think we're gonna get a resolution.

this is bullshit. This coulda been a Phyllis all over again. She was a psycho assed !@#$%^&*], but look at her now!

No the royalest Uck up of the year was to kill of Cassie to cause marital problems for Nick and Sharon without adultery. That lasted for what, four months before they are back to the tried and true adultery? They could have had all the emotion by having Cassie in a permanent coma and leaving the door open for her return. Nick and Sharon could have had all their emotional scenes and still have more to come. I think it would be harder to have your daughter alive and unresponsive then to be dead and burried. At least with the dead and burried you can put it past you and move on. Jack Smut is a total hack and Y&R will continue to flounder until he is replaced with someone who can think further into the future than 2 weeks.

I gotta agree on Cassie. As much as it was great drama, I think the show's really going to regret this decision a few years down the line. That and Camryn was such a fantastic actress given the material she had...

If you guys at Y&R don't want Jack Smith, can we do a baseball-type trade? Jack Smith for James Reilly straight up? :lol:

I actually watched/rewatched 1994-1997 before I decided to fill in gaps, so I’ve seen Bitch Julie but I’m still in the long Sweet Julie period and it’s pretty crazy knowing what’s to come. I’ve said it before but this experience is like watching an origin story prequel.

While I completely respect your viewpoint, I have to kindly disagree with you about the character of Derek. Since the shows inception he's shown signs of not necessarily being the nice guy we thought him to be. He did a lot of sketchy things that a hero/nice guy would not do. The seeds, IMO, were planted to take Derek in either direction.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread

Processing that flashforward episode... I was mortified initially but a little intrigued by the end. It was supposed to function as a sort of year-long teaser/preview, I suppose, although I question the decision to show the entirety of what happens a whole year from now majorly. So, we already know the whole brouhaha about Max changing will mean nothing. And it's like being spoiled a whole year in advance.
If I'm that interested in it, what's keeping me from just tuning in next year to see the resolution? Let's just hope they don't lose any of the actors that are present a year from now lol

I never understood why when Sam came to Springfield, she's living in the Spaulding mansion. But it was nice that she had this pseudo-brother/sister relationship with Alan-Michael.
I do think she left to go to college out of town, but I'm not sure if it was to study law.

The only reason I knew is because Ross and Philip were sometimes involved.
I had the same reaction about Sam. I really liked Sam (it helped that I was a kid at the time - I think she's a character a younger viewer was more inclined to like) and I just had no idea where she went. I think someone here once said she went off to law school. I don't know.
Looking back, Julie replaced her. As a sweetheart, I think Sam fit the role better...but I enjoyed her bitch arc, which I don't think Suzy Cote could have played as well.

It just dawned on me that somewhere in my viewing Sam exited and I had no idea. Did she go to law school out of town? Did she go to India to be with Justin? Her plot line ended with Daniel St Clair's exit and with no Phillip/Justin she didn't have much purpose on the canvas, but it was a pretty unceremonious exit for someone who took up a lot of airtime for the whole time I've been watching since June 1990. I find it interesting that Sam never returned when Phillip did, especially given that she was Harley's best friend. Though it's funny that I watched first run 1995-2005ish and did not remember that Phillip was Ross's biological nephew, so clearly the show had about as much interest in Phillip as a Marler by 1996 as they had in A-M as a Bauer.
I remember Sam really confusing me when I started my June 1990 viewing especially when Phillip/A-M visited her in the hospital and she seemed really close to both of them, and the whole familiarity/comfort of that scene was so different from any family dynamic I'd seen of the Spauldings.

This is the first character to return where we saw a body, which is usually a no-go for British soaps.
Kim Tate was killed off in early 1997, via a car accident or something along those lines. No body was shown. When they asked Claire King several months later if she wanted to return, she agreed, and viewers found out that there was a Kim lookalike who died, and the real Kim returned to confront Frank Tate, who was responsible for much of her "death."
In 2015 there was a very pathetic stunt involving Ross Barton, where his brother Pete "killed" him during a brawl, buried him in leaves, and left him. Mike Parr recorded a farewell message, and we were all meant to believe he was dead. Very few believed this, and they were proven right when Ross returned weeks later, with vengeance in mind.

Still nothing with Laurie Ann and her parents, although there's a moment with Laurie and Marcia Cross which is surprisingly moving (Marcia never got to play those types of emotional moments in her later work).

One of our loyal viewers asked if Edge struck their sets (show biz term for dismantling) before they taped their final show. I went right to the source this afternoon and asked Sharon. Here is her exact quote as it was being relayed to me.-------Nothing was dismantled until the last show was taped. After the final show, P&G reps were there, all the production staff was out on the set and we had a sort of “good-bye” time. That was when I asked Joe the prop guy to get me a ladder and climbed up in front of the Whitney Living Room fireplace and took down the Raven Portrait and walked out with it kind of tucked under my jacket and said “GOODBYE EVERYONE!!” The whole place laughed and I saw Nick Nicholson beaming like - YES that is YOURS. The crew was striking props like they normally would after a show, but no sets were torn down then while I was there.
